Technical Dossier
The GE QuickPanel series of Operator Interface Terminals (OITs) has been deployed across heavy industrial environments globally, including petrochemical refineries, nuclear power facilities, offshore platforms, and continuous-process manufacturing plants. The IC754VSF15CTD is a 15-inch color touchscreen HMI unit within the QuickPanel View/Control product line, designed for direct integration with GE Fanuc PACSystems, Series 90, and VersaMax PLC architectures. Its ruggedized enclosure, wide operating temperature range, and support for multiple industrial communication protocols have made it a standard specification in long-lifecycle plant control systems where panel replacement cycles span 10–20 years.
GE's QuickPanel product line originated in the late 1990s as a Windows CE-based embedded HMI platform, replacing earlier dedicated operator terminals with a general-purpose computing architecture capable of running Proficy Machine Edition (ME) logic and visualization simultaneously. The first-generation QuickPanel units used passive-matrix displays and serial (RS-232/RS-485) communications. The second generation introduced active-matrix TFT color displays, Ethernet 10/100 connectivity, and expanded memory. The IC754 platform — including the IC754VSF15CTD — represents the mature third-generation architecture, featuring CompactFlash storage, USB host/device ports, and support for SRTP, Modbus TCP, EGD (Ethernet Global Data), and OPC DA protocols.
Compatibility considerations are significant for maintenance engineers: QuickPanel View units run Proficy ME Viewer runtime only, while QuickPanel Control units (suffix CTD, CSD, etc.) run both the runtime and the full ME logic engine. Migration from legacy QuickPanel+ or QuickPanel Operator units to the IC754 platform requires re-validation of all screen scripts and communication driver configurations. GE has since transitioned its HMI portfolio toward the QuickPanel+ (IC754) and subsequently the Operator Panel (IC755) series, rendering the IC754VSF15CTD a mature/end-of-production unit requiring lifecycle extension support.
The following SKUs represent the verified IC754 QuickPanel product range. Units are categorized by display size, panel type (View-only vs. Control), and communication configuration.

12-Inch Color Touchscreen — Control Units
10-Inch Color Touchscreen — Control & View Units

Accessories & Replacement Components
GE Automation & Controls (now part of Emerson) has formally discontinued active production of the IC754 QuickPanel series. Replacement units are no longer available through standard distribution channels. For plant operators running long-lifecycle DCS or SCADA systems built around IC754 hardware, DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of tested surplus and refurbished IC754 units, including the IC754VSF15CTD.
DriveKNMS sources IC754 units through controlled decommissioning programs, factory-surplus channels, and direct acquisition from plant shutdowns. Each unit is cataloged by firmware revision, CompactFlash capacity, and communication port configuration to ensure compatibility with the customer's existing Proficy ME project files. For facilities requiring a documented spare-parts strategy, DriveKNMS can provide multi-unit buffer stock agreements with defined lead times.
The IC754VSF15CTD and related units undergo a structured inspection and functional test protocol prior to shipment. Display panels are evaluated for backlight uniformity, dead-pixel count (per ISO 13406-2 Class II criteria), and touchscreen calibration accuracy across the full active area. The Windows CE 5.0 operating system partition is verified for integrity, and the Proficy ME runtime version is confirmed against the unit's hardware revision.
Communication ports — including the RJ-45 Ethernet interface, RS-232/RS-485 serial ports, and USB host/device connectors — are tested under load using protocol-specific test fixtures. CompactFlash read/write speeds are benchmarked, and the real-time clock battery voltage is measured. Units that do not meet threshold specifications are either reconditioned at the component level or quarantined from inventory. All tested units ship with a documented test report.
