Technical Dossier
The OMRON CJ1G Series is a mid-range programmable logic controller (PLC) platform within OMRON's CJ-series architecture, deployed extensively across global heavy industry sectors including petrochemical plants, nuclear facility auxiliary systems, oil refineries, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and automotive assembly lines. The CJ1G platform occupies the mid-tier of the CJ-series hierarchy — above the CJ1M (compact) and below the CJ1H (high-performance) — making it the standard-specification workhorse for process control applications requiring reliable multi-rack expansion, deterministic scan times, and broad I/O compatibility. Its modular backplane architecture supports up to 10 expansion units per CPU rack, with a maximum of 40 I/O units per system configuration. The CJ1G series is fully compatible with OMRON's SYSMAC Studio and CX-Programmer development environments, and integrates natively with OMRON's DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, and Controller Link network layers.
The CJ-series was introduced by OMRON in the early 2000s as a successor to the CS1-series, adopting a slimmer form factor with a tool-less unit mounting mechanism. The CJ1G designation identifies the mid-performance CPU tier within this family. Early CJ1G units (CJ1G-CPU42H, CJ1G-CPU43H, CJ1G-CPU44H, CJ1G-CPU45H) shipped with program capacities ranging from 10K to 60K steps and data memory from 32K to 192K words. The suffix H denotes the enhanced hardware revision, which introduced faster instruction execution, expanded EM (Extended Memory) banks, and improved pulse output capabilities compared to the original non-H variants.
As the platform matured, OMRON introduced firmware updates to support structured text (ST) and function block diagram (FBD) programming in addition to ladder diagram (LD) and instruction list (IL). The CJ1G series reached its commercial maturity phase approximately 2010–2015 and has since entered a sustained maintenance lifecycle. OMRON continues to supply spare units and replacement modules, but new system designs are directed toward the NX/NJ-series platform. For installed-base operators, the CJ1G remains a fully supportable platform with a broad ecosystem of compatible I/O, communication, and special function modules.

Power Supply Modules
The CJ1G backplane bus operates at a proprietary high-speed parallel bus protocol. All modules sourced by DriveKNMS undergo a structured test sequence prior to dispatch. CPU modules are bench-tested using CX-Programmer to verify program read/write integrity, EM bank access, pulse output function, and serial port communication. I/O modules are tested under load conditions using calibrated signal sources and measurement equipment to confirm channel-by-channel accuracy within OEM tolerance bands. Communication modules (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Controller Link) are tested for network enumeration, data link establishment, and error-free packet transmission over a minimum 30-minute soak period. Power supply modules are tested under rated load with output voltage and ripple measurements recorded. All test results are documented and available upon request with shipment.
