Technical Dossier
The BALDOR PCI201 series represents a line of low-voltage AC variable frequency drives engineered for demanding industrial environments. Deployed extensively across petrochemical refineries, water treatment facilities, pulp and paper mills, and heavy manufacturing plants, the PCI201 platform delivers closed-loop and open-loop vector control for three-phase induction motors in the sub-100 HP range. Its compact footprint and DIN-rail-compatible mounting options made it a preferred choice for panel builders and OEM integrators throughout the 1990s and 2000s. The series remains installed in a significant installed base of legacy machinery globally, driving sustained demand for replacement units and spare modules.
The PCI201 series was introduced by Baldor Electric Company as part of its drive product expansion targeting the North American and export industrial markets. Early variants operated on 115V and 230V single-phase input with limited parameter sets accessible via a basic keypad interface. Mid-generation units introduced 460V three-phase input capability, expanded fault diagnostics, and RS-232 serial communication ports for integration with supervisory control systems. Later revisions incorporated improved IGBT switching technology, reducing harmonic distortion and extending drive service intervals. The series was progressively superseded by Baldor's VS1 and ID15 drive families, which offered CANopen and Modbus RTU as standard communication protocols. However, PCI201 units remain in active service in facilities where full system replacement is cost-prohibitive, making long-term spare parts availability a critical operational requirement. Compatibility between early and late PCI201 sub-variants requires verification of firmware revision and control board assembly number before substitution.

The BALDOR PCI201 series has reached end-of-production status. Baldor Electric, now operating as ABB Motion, no longer manufactures or provides factory repair services for PCI201 units. DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of new-surplus, refurbished, and tested-serviceable PCI201 drives sourced through authorized liquidation channels and decommissioned plant acquisitions. For facilities operating legacy PCI201 installations, DriveKNMS provides direct unit replacement, control board-level repair assessment, and cross-reference identification to compatible successor models where full form-fit-function equivalence can be confirmed. Customers requiring long-term maintenance contracts for PCI201 fleets are encouraged to contact our technical team to discuss stocking agreements and priority allocation programs.
Each PCI201 unit processed by DriveKNMS undergoes a structured inspection and functional test protocol prior to dispatch. Power stage testing verifies IGBT module integrity and gate drive signal integrity under no-load and resistive load conditions across the full output frequency range (0–400 Hz). DC bus capacitor ESR measurement identifies aged or degraded capacitor banks that would otherwise cause undervoltage fault conditions in service. Control board inspection covers solder joint integrity, electrolytic capacitor condition, and firmware version identification. Communication port functionality is verified where applicable. Units are run-tested at rated input voltage with motor simulation load before final packaging. All test records are retained and available upon request with each shipment.
