Technical Dossier
The Lenze i500 series is a modular frequency inverter and HMI platform deployed across global heavy industry sectors including chemical processing plants, nuclear auxiliary systems, oil refineries, pulp and paper mills, and water treatment facilities. With an installed base spanning Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas, the i500 platform is recognized for its scalable architecture, integrated safety functions (STO, SS1, SLS per IEC 62061), and compatibility with major fieldbus protocols including PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherCAT, CANopen, and Modbus TCP. The I5DAE375F10010000S is a 7.5 kW three-phase inverter variant within this series, designed for demanding continuous-duty motor control applications.
The Lenze i500 series succeeded the 8400 StateLine and 8400 TopLine inverter families, inheriting their core motor control algorithms while introducing a unified keypad interface (KP500), a standardized slot-based expansion system, and native support for the FAST application framework. Early i500 units (circa 2013–2016) used firmware revisions below 02.00 and are incompatible with certain later communication modules without a firmware upgrade. From 2017 onward, Lenze introduced the i500 Cabinet variant for panel-mount integration and extended the power range from 0.25 kW to 90 kW in a single product family. Units produced after 2020 carry CE, UL, and cUL markings and comply with EN 61800-5-1 and EN 61800-3 (C2/C3 EMC categories). Compatibility between early and late-generation expansion modules requires verification against the hardware revision stamped on the nameplate. The i500 series is currently in its mature phase; Lenze continues to supply spare parts and firmware support, but the platform is not receiving new feature development.

DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of Lenze i500 series components, including units from early production batches (hardware revision A and B) that are no longer available through standard distribution channels. For plants operating i500 inverters installed prior to 2016, sourcing replacement units with matching firmware and hardware revisions is critical to avoid parameter migration issues. DriveKNMS provides hardware revision matching, cross-reference verification against Lenze part number databases, and can supply tested surplus units with full traceability documentation. For end-of-life support contracts covering multi-year maintenance windows, contact our technical team directly with your site's installed base list.
Each i500 unit processed by DriveKNMS undergoes a structured inspection and functional test protocol. Power stage testing covers DC bus charging behavior, IGBT gate drive integrity, and output phase balance under resistive load. Control board verification includes firmware version confirmation, parameter default restore, and I/O channel continuity checks. Communication modules are tested for fieldbus enumeration and cyclic data exchange using protocol-specific test masters. Units with integrated STO (Safe Torque Off) are verified for STO response time per EN 62061 SIL 2 requirements. All tested units are issued a test report documenting input voltage, output frequency range, load test duration, and pass/fail status per channel.
