Technical Dossier
The Lenze CDE34 series represents a compact, single-axis servo drive platform engineered for precision motion control in continuous industrial operation. Deployed extensively across chemical processing plants, paper and printing machinery, material handling systems, and packaging lines, the CDE34 family operates within Lenze's 9300 servo inverter ecosystem. Its modular architecture supports integration with Lenze's ECSxA and 9300 controller families via LECOM-A/B and CANopen fieldbus interfaces. Current-rated variants span from 2.5 A to 25 A continuous output, covering a broad range of servo motor frame sizes. The series has reached end-of-active-production status; however, installed base volumes across European and Asian heavy industry ensure sustained demand for spare and replacement units.
The CDE34 was introduced as part of Lenze's third-generation compact servo drive lineup, succeeding the CDE32 and CDE33 platforms. Early CDE34 variants used analog command interfaces and relied on resolver feedback exclusively. Mid-generation revisions introduced digital encoder support (HTL/TTL incremental) and expanded the fieldbus option card slot to accommodate PROFIBUS-DP (E82ZAFPC) and DeviceNet modules. The suffix structure encodes critical configuration data: the third field (e.g., 006) denotes the continuous current rating in amperes; the fourth field (WXX) identifies the voltage class and cooling variant (W = 3-phase 400 V AC, XX = without integrated braking resistor); the fifth field (PC1) specifies the communication option card fitted at factory. Compatibility with Lenze MCS and MQA servo motor families is maintained across all CDE34 sub-variants, provided motor feedback type matches the drive's encoder input configuration. Transition to the Lenze i700 servo inverter platform is the recommended migration path for new installations.

The CDE34 series has been classified as discontinued by Lenze. OEM replacement lead times through authorized distribution channels are typically 16–26 weeks for any remaining new-old-stock units, where available. DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of tested CDE34 units sourced from decommissioned production lines, controlled factory shutdowns, and certified secondary-market channels. Stock is held across current ratings (6 A through 25 A) and the three primary fieldbus configurations (L00, PC1, PB1). For facilities operating Lenze 9300 or ECSxA systems with CDE34 drives embedded in multi-axis gantry or winding applications, DriveKNMS provides lifecycle extension support including unit exchange, repair-and-return, and long-term consignment stocking agreements. Emergency same-day dispatch is available for in-stock units. Customers are advised to provide the full nameplate part number including all suffix fields to ensure exact configuration match.
Each CDE34 unit processed by DriveKNMS undergoes a structured inspection and functional test protocol specific to the series' hardware architecture. The DC bus capacitor bank is measured for capacitance retention and ESR against Lenze factory tolerance bands. IGBT gate drive circuits are verified under load using a resistive test bench at rated current. The resolver/encoder feedback interface is tested with a reference motor to confirm signal integrity at both low-speed and rated-speed operation. Option card slots (PC1, PB1, DN1) are verified for correct fieldbus node address assignment and cyclic data exchange. Thermal management components — including the internal NTC thermistor and heatsink fan assembly — are inspected and replaced as required. Units are powered through a controlled ramp-up sequence to detect latent capacitor or power stage faults before dispatch. All tested units are issued a DriveKNMS inspection certificate with test date, technician ID, and measured parameters.
