Technical Dossier
The ABB AC500 is a modular programmable logic controller platform deployed across heavy industrial sectors including petrochemical refineries, nuclear power auxiliary systems, offshore platforms, pulp and paper mills, and water treatment infrastructure. The AC500 architecture is characterized by its scalability: a single CPU module can address hundreds of distributed I/O points via the S500 I/O bus, with deterministic cycle times suitable for safety-instrumented and process-critical applications. The DAI01 is a 16-channel 24 VDC digital input module within the S500 I/O family, designed for direct field signal acquisition from proximity sensors, pushbuttons, and discrete process switches. Its compact form factor and DIN-rail mounting make it a standard component in AC500-based control panels globally.
The AC500 platform was introduced by ABB in the early 2000s as a successor to the CS31 and Advant Controller families. The first generation (AC500 V1) used the S500 I/O bus with a proprietary backplane protocol and supported CPUs from the PM571 to PM591 range. Communication was primarily handled via PROFIBUS-DP and Modbus RTU adapters. The second generation (AC500 V2, circa 2010–2015) introduced expanded memory, faster scan cycles, and native Ethernet/IP and PROFINET support through the CM579 communication module family. The current generation (AC500 V3 / AC500-eCo) extends the platform with IEC 62443 cybersecurity compliance, SD card-based firmware management, and compatibility with the AC500-S safety CPU (PM5650-2ETH) for SIL 3 applications. Backward compatibility between S500 I/O modules and all CPU generations has been maintained, meaning DAI01 and its siblings remain deployable in both legacy V1 installations and modern V3 control architectures. This cross-generational compatibility is a primary reason the S500 I/O module catalog remains in active demand for plant maintenance and expansion projects.

Q: How is condition confirmed before quotation?
A: Available condition, photos, test records and documentation are checked according to the requested model and sourcing channel before a formal RFQ response.
