The 3300 XL 8mm system, of which the 330901 is the probe component, was introduced as a direct upgrade path offering improved temperature stability, tighter sensitivity tolerances (7.87 V/mm ± 0.5%), and extended gap range (0.25 mm to 2.54 mm linear range). The system architecture separates the probe (330901), the extension cable (330130), and the proximitor/oscillator-demodulator (330180 or 330185) into discrete, field-replaceable components — a design philosophy that allows maintenance teams to replace only the failed element without disturbing the full transducer chain. Early variants used a fixed-length integral cable; later configurations introduced the armored and high-temperature cable options to address installation environments in excess of 177°C. The 330901 is now considered a mature product.
