Technical Dossier
The Bosch Rexroth HCD90 series is a high-performance digital AC servo drive platform deployed across global heavy industry sectors including petrochemical refineries, nuclear power generation facilities, offshore drilling platforms, and large-scale chemical processing plants. Engineered to IEC and CE standards in Germany, the HCD90 architecture provides deterministic motion control with integrated safety functions, making it a reference-class solution for multi-axis coordinated drive systems. Its modular backplane design allows scalable configuration from single-axis to complex multi-drive topologies, and its long production lifecycle has resulted in widespread installed base across facilities with 20+ year operational horizons. The HCD90 271-5818 NSLN100 NLON100 motherboard is the central communication and logic substrate of this platform, coordinating inter-module data exchange across the HCD90 backplane bus.
The HCD90 series was introduced by Rexroth (prior to full integration into the Bosch Group) as a successor to earlier analog servo drive platforms, transitioning the product line to fully digital field-oriented control (FOC). Early HCD90 variants utilized parallel backplane communication with proprietary Rexroth SERCOS I fiber-optic ring topology for real-time axis synchronization. Mid-generation revisions introduced enhanced DSP processing cores, expanding the servo update rate and reducing interpolation cycle times to sub-millisecond levels. Later HCD90 revisions incorporated compatibility layers for PROFIBUS-DP and CANopen fieldbus protocols, extending integration capability with third-party PLCs and DCS platforms from Siemens, ABB, and Yokogawa. The series has entered its mature/end-of-life phase; Bosch Rexroth's current equivalent platform is the IndraDrive series (HCS, HMD, HMS families). However, the HCD90 remains in active service at thousands of installed sites globally, and original spare parts — particularly motherboards, power supply modules, and I/O cards — are critical for lifecycle extension without full drive replacement.
The following SKUs represent verified components within the Bosch Rexroth HCD90 drive system. Each module is classified by functional role within the drive architecture:
Motherboard / Logic Substrate
Axis Control / Servo Amplifier Modules
Power Supply Modules
Digital I/O Modules
Communication / Fieldbus Adapter Modules
Encoder / Feedback Interface
The HCD90 series has been formally discontinued by Bosch Rexroth, with new production of most modules ceased. Authorized distribution channels no longer carry stock for the majority of HCD90 part numbers. DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of tested HCD90 spare parts sourced through certified industrial surplus channels, including the HCD90 271-5818 NSLN100 NLON100 motherboard and associated axis amplifier, power supply, and I/O modules. For facilities operating HCD90-based systems beyond the OEM support window, DriveKNMS provides lifecycle extension services including: direct part-number cross-referencing, functional equivalency assessment for substitute modules, and multi-unit procurement for planned maintenance schedules. All obsolete HCD90 inventory is held in climate-controlled storage and dispatched with full traceability documentation.
The HCD90 motherboard and backplane communication modules require specialized validation procedures due to the complexity of the proprietary Rexroth bus protocol and multi-layer PCB construction. DriveKNMS applies the following test protocol to all HCD90 units prior to dispatch:
