The 3300 XL platform succeeded the original Bently Nevada 3300 Series, introducing a wider rack form factor, enhanced EMI shielding, and a dedicated high-speed communication backplane. Early 3300 XL racks (circa 1995–2002) used a parallel backplane bus for inter-module communication; later revisions introduced a serial system bus compatible with System 1 condition monitoring software.
