The Emerson DeltaV KJ3003X1 series comprises field terminal blocks (FTBs) and marshalling terminal assemblies designed for use within the DeltaV distributed control system (DCS) architecture. These components serve as the physical interface layer between field instrumentation and DeltaV I/O subsystem cards, and are installed across heavy-process industries including petroleum refining, chemical manufacturing, LNG terminals, nuclear power generation, and pulp and paper production. The KJ3003X1 family is engineered to mate with specific DeltaV I/O card types, providing screw-terminal or spring-clamp field wiring termination, signal conditioning pathways, and intrinsic safety barrier integration points where applicable. Installed base counts for DeltaV systems globally number in the tens of thousands of nodes, making the KJ3003X1 series one of the highest-volume terminal block families in process automation.
The DeltaV platform was introduced by Fisher-Rosemount Systems (subsequently acquired by Emerson Electric) in 1996. The KJ3003X1 terminal block series was developed in parallel with the first-generation DeltaV I/O card set, specifically to support the 8-channel and 16-channel analog and discrete I/O modules that populated early DeltaV controller nodes. Early revisions of the KJ3003X1 used conventional screw-terminal wiring with a 35 mm DIN rail mounting profile. As the DeltaV platform matured through the S-series and M-series controller generations, the terminal block family was revised to accommodate HART pass-through wiring, increased channel density, and improved EMI shielding. The introduction of DeltaV Electronic Marshalling (CHARM) in 2012 created a parallel I/O architecture; however, the KJ3003X1 series remains the standard termination method for all legacy and non-CHARM DeltaV I/O installations. Sites that standardized on DeltaV prior to 2012 continue to operate KJ3003X1 assemblies as the primary field wiring interface, and replacement demand remains consistent due to terminal wear, corrosion in humid environments, and expansion of existing DCS cabinets.
