Technical Dossier
The IC200 platform was introduced by GE Fanuc Automation in the mid-1990s as the VersaMax Micro product line, targeting machine-level control applications requiring a small footprint and integrated I/O. Early revisions (IC200MDL series) established the discrete I/O module standard with 24VDC and relay output variants. The CPU architecture evolved through several generations: initial units supported serial programming via SNP/SNPX protocols; later revisions (including the IC200CPUE05-MX and related Ethernet-capable CPUs) added embedded Ethernet ports supporting SRTP and Modbus TCP, enabling integration into modern SCADA and DCS environments without gateway hardware.
Compatibility constraints are a known operational factor: IC200 CPUs are not cross-compatible with the larger IC693 (Series 90-30) or IC694 backplane systems. Expansion I/O for IC200 uses a dedicated local bus; remote I/O expansion requires IC200BEM series bus expansion modules. Programming is performed via Proficy Machine Edition (PME) software, which replaced the legacy VersaPro environment. Firmware version dependencies between CPU and I/O modules must be verified during replacement to avoid bus communication faults.
As of 2024, the IC200 series is classified as a mature/end-of-active-development platform by Emerson. No new hardware variants are being introduced. Long-term maintenance support is the primary commercial driver for this series.

For the IC200CPUE05-MX and related CPU variants, we maintain cross-reference data against firmware revision levels to ensure CPU-to-I/O compatibility on delivery. Customers operating IC200 systems in regulated environments (SIL-rated loops, nuclear auxiliary, offshore) are advised to specify their current firmware baseline when requesting quotes, as firmware mismatches are the primary cause of field installation failures on replacement CPUs.
Q: Can you support multi-unit or repeat RFQ requests?
A: Yes. Send the model list, target quantity and destination so DRIVEKNMS can review sourcing options and quote the requirement as a project RFQ.
All IC200 modules processed by DriveKNMS undergo a structured test protocol adapted to the specific bus architecture of the VersaMax Micro platform. CPU modules (IC200CPUE05-MX and variants) are bench-tested under live Proficy Machine Edition sessions: program download/upload verification, Ethernet port connectivity (ping, SRTP session establishment, Modbus TCP register read/write), onboard I/O point-by-point functional test, and memory retention check across power cycles.

Move from this exact model into the matching system hub, brand archive, model-family archive or lifecycle sourcing route before sending a final RFQ list.
