Technical Dossier
The EXPERT LCP (Local Control Panel) series represents a standardized family of operator interface and local control modules deployed across heavy industrial sectors including petrochemical refineries, chemical processing plants, offshore platforms, and nuclear auxiliary systems. The LCP-100 and its sibling modules serve as the field-level human-machine interface layer within distributed control architectures, providing local override capability, status indication, and manual/auto switching independent of the central DCS. Their ruggedized enclosure ratings and wide operating temperature tolerance have made them a preferred specification in facilities where panel-level control redundancy is a safety requirement. Installed base across global heavy industry remains substantial, with many facilities maintaining LCP Series panels in service beyond their original design lifecycle due to the cost and complexity of full panel replacement programs.
The LCP Series was introduced as a modular local control solution designed to interface with both hardwired relay logic systems and early programmable controller backplanes. The initial generation, anchored by the LCP-100, used discrete wiring termination blocks and analog signal conditioning circuits compatible with 4–20 mA field instruments. As DCS platforms evolved through the 1990s and 2000s, EXPERT extended the LCP architecture to support HART pass-through communication, allowing field device diagnostics to be surfaced at the panel level without additional infrastructure. Later variants introduced fieldbus-compatible signal isolation and intrinsic safety barriers integrated directly into the panel assembly, reducing the external component count for Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous area installations. The current generation maintains backward-compatible terminal layouts with first-generation LCP modules, a deliberate design decision that has extended the series' service life in brownfield facilities where rewiring costs are prohibitive. Compatibility with legacy EXPERT DCS backplanes (Series 200, Series 400) and third-party systems via analog I/O remains a core specification maintained across all LCP variants.
The following SKUs represent the verified LCP Series module range. Each entry reflects a distinct functional role within the local control panel architecture:
LCP-100: Base local control panel module; manual/auto switching, status indication, 4–20 mA loop interface.
LCP-101: LCP-100 variant with extended terminal block capacity for multi-loop applications.
LCP-102: Intrinsically safe version of LCP-100; certified for Zone 1 hazardous area installation.

LCP-190: Diagnostic and test module; loop simulation, signal injection, continuity verification.
LCP Series modules incorporate multi-layer backplane bus communication and analog signal conditioning circuits that require function-specific test procedures beyond standard power-on verification. DriveKNMS applies the following quality control protocol to all LCP Series units processed through its facility: incoming inspection includes visual examination of terminal blocks, connector pins, and PCB surfaces for corrosion, mechanical damage, and counterfeit indicators. Functional testing is performed using dedicated LCP panel test fixtures that replicate the original backplane electrical environment, including bus termination impedance and supply voltage tolerances. Analog channel accuracy is verified against calibrated reference standards traceable to national metrology institutes. HART communication modules are tested for protocol compliance using a certified HART communicator. Discrete I/O modules are cycled through full on/off state sequences under load. All tested units are issued a test record documenting measured parameters, pass/fail status, and technician identification. Units that fail any test parameter are quarantined and not returned to serviceable inventory.
