The Honeywell FSC (Fail Safe Controller) series is a dedicated safety instrumented system (SIS) platform engineered to IEC 61508 SIL 3 and IEC 61511 standards. It has accumulated a substantial installed base across global heavy industry sectors including petrochemical complexes, offshore oil and gas platforms, nuclear power generation facilities, and large-scale refinery operations. The FSC architecture operates as a standalone safety controller or in integration with Honeywell's Experion PKS distributed control system, providing certified emergency shutdown (ESD), fire and gas detection (F&G), and high-integrity pressure protection (HIPPS) functions. Its modular backplane design, redundant communication buses, and deterministic scan cycle make it a reference architecture for safety-critical applications where proof-test intervals extend to 10 years.
