Technical Dossier
The INFRANOR GMBH MSM series represents a family of servo drive boards and motion control modules engineered for continuous-duty industrial environments. Deployed across chemical processing plants, oil refineries, nuclear auxiliary systems, and heavy manufacturing lines, MSM-series boards occupy a critical position in legacy and mid-generation servo drive architectures. Their compact PCB form factor, deterministic PWM output stages, and robust fault-isolation logic made them a preferred OEM choice for machine builders across Europe and Asia throughout the 1990s and 2000s. As installed base units age into their maintenance phase, sourcing verified replacement boards has become a primary operational concern for plant engineers and MRO procurement teams worldwide.
The MSM series was introduced by INFRANOR GMBH as a modular drive board platform designed to interface with the company's XtrapulsPac and SMT-BD1 servo amplifier families. Early-generation boards (MSM0404, MSM0606) used analog reference signal conditioning with discrete IGBT gate driver circuits. Mid-generation revisions introduced surface-mount gate driver ICs, improved thermal management layers, and expanded fault diagnostic registers accessible via RS-232 or CANopen interfaces. Late-generation variants added encoder feedback conditioning circuits compatible with EnDat 2.1 and SSI absolute encoders.
Compatibility across generations is not guaranteed at the backplane level. MSM boards are keyed to specific amplifier chassis revisions; substituting a later-generation board into an early-chassis amplifier requires verification of firmware revision, gate timing parameters, and current-sense resistor values. Plants operating mixed-generation INFRANOR drive cabinets must maintain accurate board-level revision records to avoid mismatched replacements during emergency maintenance windows.
The MSM series has entered its end-of-life phase. INFRANOR GMBH has transitioned its current servo drive portfolio to the XtrapulsPac and SMT-BD1/DP platforms. MSM boards are no longer manufactured; all procurement is sourced from tested surplus, refurbished pull-outs, or new-old-stock (NOS) inventory held by specialist distributors.
The following SKUs represent verified models within the INFRANOR GMBH MSM drive board series, classified by functional role:
Drive & Power Stage Boards
Control & Signal Conditioning Boards
Communication & Interface Modules
Power Supply & Auxiliary Boards
DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory program for end-of-life INFRANOR GMBH MSM series boards. As OEM production has ceased, the primary supply chain for MSM components consists of tested surplus units recovered from decommissioned drive cabinets, factory-refurbished boards returned from field service, and NOS stock acquired from authorized INFRANOR distributors prior to product discontinuation.
For plant operators running INFRANOR servo systems beyond their original design life, DriveKNMS provides lifecycle extension support including: board-level fault diagnosis, component-level repair for common failure modes (gate driver IC failure, capacitor degradation, current-sense resistor drift), and cross-reference matching to identify compatible replacement boards where direct MSM substitutes are unavailable. Emergency same-day dispatch is available for in-stock MSM0606 and MSM0404 units. For low-volume or single-unit requirements, contact the procurement team directly with your chassis serial number and board revision code to confirm compatibility before ordering.
MSM series drive boards present specific test challenges due to their integrated gate driver and current feedback architecture. DriveKNMS applies the following test protocol to all MSM boards prior to dispatch:
All tested units are issued a DriveKNMS test certificate recording test date, technician ID, chassis used for testing, and measured parameters. Boards that do not pass all test stages are quarantined and not offered for sale.
