Technical Dossier
The LENZE E84DGF series — commercially designated as the Lenze 8400 StateLine — is a family of compact, single-axis frequency inverters engineered for decentralized and centralized drive applications in continuous-process industries. Deployed across chemical processing plants, oil refineries, nuclear auxiliary systems, pulp and paper mills, and water treatment infrastructure, the E84DGF platform occupies a critical position in global heavy-industry automation. Its voltage range (200–480 V AC), integrated EMC filtering options, and fieldbus-ready architecture made it a standard-specification component in European and Asian industrial projects from the mid-2000s through the 2010s. The series supports motor control modes including V/f, sensorless vector (SLVC), and closed-loop vector control (with encoder feedback), covering output power ratings from 0.25 kW to 90 kW within a unified parameter structure (Lenze Global Drive Control, LGDC).
The E84DGF series succeeded the earlier Lenze 8200 vector and 8200 motec platforms, inheriting their parameter philosophy while introducing a 32-bit DSP core, integrated PLC functionality (IEC 61131-3 via Lenze Engineer software), and a standardized keypad/communication interface. Early production units (circa 2005–2010) used the E84DGF_R suffix convention to denote the power stage and filter configuration. Subsequent revisions introduced enhanced EMC Class C2 filters, Safe Torque Off (STO, SIL 2 / PLd) as a standard safety function, and expanded fieldbus support (PROFIBUS-DP, CANopen, EtherCAT, PROFINET, DeviceNet via plug-in communication modules).
By 2018, Lenze announced the transition roadmap toward the i550 and i700 series as the strategic successors. The E84DGF line entered the mature/end-of-active-production phase, with Lenze committing to spare parts availability under its standard 10-year post-discontinuation policy. For installations where a like-for-like replacement is required — particularly in safety-certified or validated process lines — sourcing original E84DGF units remains the preferred engineering decision over cross-series migration.
The following SKUs represent verified, commonly stocked models within the E84DGF series. Units are classified by power stage and integrated option configuration.
Compact StateLine — Single-Phase Input (200–240 V)
Standard StateLine — Three-Phase Input (380–480 V)
Application-Specific & Communication Variants
DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory program for the E84DGF series, covering units that have exited Lenze's active production schedule. Our sourcing protocol for this series includes:
For plants operating under IEC 61511 (functional safety in process industries) or ISO 13849, maintaining original-series hardware avoids re-validation costs. DriveKNMS provides documentation packages (test reports, firmware version records) to support customer safety file updates.
Each E84DGF unit processed by DriveKNMS undergoes a structured inspection and functional test sequence specific to the series' architecture:
