Technical Dossier
The Yokogawa SAI143 series is a line of signal amplifier input modules deployed within the CENTUM CS, CS3000, and CENTUM VP distributed control systems (DCS). These modules occupy a critical position in global heavy industry installations, including petrochemical refineries, nuclear power facilities, chemical processing plants, and offshore oil and gas platforms. The SAI143 series handles analog signal conditioning — converting field-level sensor signals (4–20 mA, thermocouple, RTD, millivolt) into standardized digital values for the CENTUM DCS controller nodes. Their long-term deployment in safety-critical environments has made them a high-demand spare part category worldwide.
The SAI143 module family was introduced as part of Yokogawa's CENTUM CS platform in the mid-1990s, designed to provide high-density analog input capability within the Field Control Station (FCS) architecture. The original CS-series modules used a parallel backplane bus; with the transition to CENTUM CS3000 (released 1998), Yokogawa standardized on a high-speed serial node bus, improving noise immunity and enabling larger I/O node configurations. The SAI143 retained its physical form factor across generations, ensuring backward mechanical compatibility while the firmware and bus protocol evolved.
The following SKUs represent the confirmed SAI143 series module variants, classified by signal type and suffix configuration. Each entry reflects a distinct hardware revision or channel/range specification.
Analog Input Modules (AI)
SAI143 modules present specific testing challenges due to their multi-channel analog front-end design and node bus communication interface. DriveKNMS applies the following test protocol to all SAI143 units prior to dispatch:
