Technical Dossier
The IOC-555 platform was introduced as part of CCC's second-generation ICS architecture, succeeding earlier relay-logic and discrete analog control panels. The series was designed around a modular backplane bus structure, allowing individual I/O and processing cards to be replaced without full system shutdown — a critical requirement in continuous-process industries where unplanned outages carry significant financial and safety consequences.
Early IOC-555 variants used parallel backplane communication with TTL-level signaling. Subsequent revisions introduced enhanced noise immunity, optically isolated I/O channels, and expanded diagnostic registers accessible via the system's serial communication interface. The -D suffix on the IOC-555-D designates a specific board revision incorporating design changes to the analog signal conditioning circuitry and power regulation section.
As CCC transitioned toward its next-generation Turbotronic and RPC (Rotor Protection Controller) platforms in the 2000s and 2010s, the IOC-555 series entered a maintenance and end-of-life phase. CCC ceased active production of most IOC-555 variants, shifting support to authorized repair centers and third-party MRO suppliers. Sites still operating IOC-555-based systems face the dual challenge of sourcing replacement boards and maintaining configuration compatibility with legacy software tools. Migration to modern CCC platforms requires full system re-engineering, making like-for-like board replacement the preferred strategy for the majority of operating sites.
The following SKUs represent verified models within the CCC IOC-555 and closely related ICS board-level product range. Each entry reflects a distinct functional role within the system architecture:
IOC-555-D: I/O controller circuit board, analog/digital signal interface, backplane bus revision D.
IOC-555-A: Original production I/O controller board, early backplane bus variant, analog input focus.
IOC-555-B: Revised I/O controller, improved analog conditioning, expanded DI channel count.
IOC-555-C: Third revision board, enhanced EMI shielding, updated power regulation section.
IOC-555-E: Extended-temperature variant, rated for high-ambient enclosure installations.
IOC-555-F: Final production revision, incorporates watchdog timer upgrade and diagnostic LED array.
IOC-500: Predecessor I/O controller board, compatible backplane, reduced channel density.
IOC-560: Successor I/O controller, expanded analog channel count, same backplane form factor.
IOC-570: High-density I/O board, dual-width module, 32-channel analog input configuration.
DIO-555: Discrete I/O module, 24 VDC field wiring, optically isolated inputs and outputs.
DIO-555-H: High-current discrete output variant, relay-driven outputs, 2A per channel rating.
AIO-555: Analog I/O module, 4–20 mA loop-powered inputs, 0–10 V output channels.
AIO-555-X: Extended-range analog I/O, ±10 V input range, 16-bit ADC resolution.
CPU-555: Central processing unit card for IOC-555 backplane, executes control logic and sequencing.
CPU-555-R: Redundant CPU module, hot-standby configuration, bumpless transfer on fault.
COM-555: Serial communications adapter, RS-232/RS-485 interface, Modbus RTU protocol support.
COM-555-E: Ethernet communications module, 10/100 Mbps, Modbus TCP and proprietary CCC protocol.
PSU-555: Backplane power supply module, 24 VDC input, regulated 5 V and ±15 V outputs.
PSU-555-R: Redundant power supply module, parallel operation, automatic load sharing.
BPL-555-8: 8-slot backplane chassis, passive bus, accepts all IOC-555 series modules.
DriveKNMS supports installed-base sourcing for this series through RFQ review, including model matching, condition checks and documentation requirements before quotation.
The IOC-555 series presents specific testing challenges due to its mixed analog/digital architecture and backplane bus dependency. DriveKNMS applies the following verification protocol to all IOC-555 boards processed through its facility:
Visual inspection covers solder joint integrity, capacitor condition (ESR measurement on all electrolytic devices), connector pin straightness, and PCB trace continuity. Boards with evidence of thermal damage, corrosion, or prior unauthorized repair are quarantined for engineering review before any further processing.
Functional testing is performed using a dedicated IOC-555 backplane test fixture that replicates the electrical environment of the installed system. Each analog input channel is stimulated across its full rated range and output linearity is verified against factory specification tolerances. Discrete I/O channels are cycled through all logic states with load simulation. The backplane bus interface is exercised using a protocol analyzer to confirm correct register addressing and data integrity under simulated fault conditions.
All boards are powered for a minimum 24-hour burn-in period prior to final acceptance. Units that pass all acceptance criteria are issued a DriveKNMS test certificate recording the date, technician ID, test fixture serial number, and measured parameters. Boards are then anti-static packaged with desiccant and shipped in rigid foam-lined cartons.
