The Emerson DeltaV KJ4110X1-BC1 terminal block series is a core field-wiring interface component within the DeltaV distributed control system (DCS) platform. Deployed across global heavy-industry installations — including petrochemical complexes, nuclear power facilities, LNG terminals, and crude oil refineries — this series provides the physical I/O termination layer between field instruments and DeltaV I/O subsystem cards. The KJ4110X1-BC1 family supports 8-channel and 12-channel analog and discrete I/O configurations, and is mechanically and electrically compatible with the DeltaV Series 2 and MD-series I/O card sets. Its DIN-rail mounting form factor and screw-terminal wiring interface conform to IEC 60947-7-1 standards, making it a universal choice for brownfield integration projects where legacy wiring infrastructure must be preserved.
The DeltaV I/O terminal block architecture has evolved through three distinct generations since the platform's commercial introduction in the late 1990s. The first-generation terminal blocks used a passive screw-terminal design with no embedded electronics, serving purely as a field-wiring consolidation point. The second generation — to which the KJ4110X1-BC1 belongs — introduced keyed mechanical connectors and color-coded channel identification, reducing mis-wiring risk during commissioning and maintenance. The third generation introduced smart terminal blocks with embedded HART pass-through capability and local LED diagnostics.
The KJ4110X1-BC1 12P1869X012 variant is a 12-position terminal block assembly. It is backward-compatible with first-generation DeltaV I/O marshalling cabinets and forward-compatible with DeltaV S-series I/O when used with appropriate adapter kits. As of 2024, Emerson has transitioned new project specifications toward the DeltaV Electronic Marshalling (CHARM) architecture; however, the KJ4110X1-BC1 series remains the dominant installed base in brownfield sites and continues to be supported under Emerson's long-term service agreements through at least 2032.
