The PR6423 series originates from the Philips/Vibro-Meter lineage of eddy-current measurement technology, later consolidated under the Epro brand following Emerson's acquisition of the machinery protection portfolio. Early-generation PR6423 units were designed for DIN-rail or rack-mount installation in dedicated vibration monitoring panels, operating with fixed cable lengths matched to specific probe-extension cable combinations (PR9268 series). The architecture relies on a three-component measurement chain: proximity probe (PR6423 probe head), extension cable (PR9268), and signal converter (CON0xx series). Signal converter variants are differentiated by output type (current vs. voltage), measurement range (gap range in mm), and cable length compensation. Later revisions introduced improved EMI shielding and extended temperature ratings to accommodate harsh industrial enclosures.
