Technical Dossier
The Emerson PR6423 series is a family of eddy-current proximity transducers and vibration sensor modules engineered for continuous machinery protection in heavy industrial environments. Deployed across petrochemical refineries, nuclear power stations, offshore platforms, and large-scale chemical processing facilities, the PR6423 series forms a core sensing layer within Emerson's Machinery Health Management infrastructure. These transducers interface directly with Emerson CSI, Bently Nevada 3500, and compatible DCS platforms to deliver real-time shaft displacement, vibration amplitude, and rotational speed data for rotating equipment including turbines, compressors, pumps, and gearboxes. The series is manufactured to API 670 standards and is rated for operation in hazardous area classifications including ATEX Zone 1 and IECEx environments.
The PR6423 series traces its lineage to Emerson's acquisition and integration of Entek IRD and the broader Machinery Health portfolio. Early-generation PR6423 transducers were designed for direct 4–20 mA loop-powered output with fixed sensitivity of 8 mV/µm (200 mV/mil), targeting turbomachinery OEM installations in the 1990s and early 2000s. The architecture relied on a two-wire coaxial cable connection between the probe tip, extension cable, and a dedicated signal conditioning driver (oscillator-demodulator), forming a three-component measurement chain.
Mid-generation variants introduced enhanced EMI shielding, extended temperature ratings (–50°C to +120°C probe tip), and improved linearity across the full measurement range. The CON021 driver/conditioner module, as used in the PR6423/11R-131 CON021, represents the standardized signal conditioning interface for this series, providing buffered output, gap voltage monitoring, and direct compatibility with Emerson AMS Machinery Manager and Bently Nevada 3500/40M monitor cards.
As the PR6423 series has entered its mature-to-declining lifecycle phase, Emerson's current recommended migration path leads toward the Bently Nevada SCOUT220 and 3500 Series platform with TK-series transducers. However, the installed base of PR6423 systems in legacy plants remains substantial, and direct replacement parts continue to be required for long-term asset maintenance programs (LTAP) and turnaround maintenance cycles.
The following SKUs represent verified, commonly sourced models within the Emerson PR6423 eddy-current transducer series. Models are classified by probe configuration, cable length, and conditioner type.

The PR6423 series is classified as a mature product line by Emerson, with several sub-variants formally discontinued. OEM lead times for remaining active SKUs can extend to 16–26 weeks due to low-volume production scheduling. DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of PR6423 probes, extension cables, and CON-series conditioner modules sourced from decommissioned plant equipment, authorized surplus channels, and verified third-party refurbishment programs.
For plants operating under long-term service agreements (LTSA) or preparing for scheduled turnarounds, DriveKNMS provides advance procurement and bonded warehousing of PR6423 assemblies. All obsolete and hard-to-find models — including discontinued cable lengths and legacy CON011 conditioners — are available for quotation. Typical lead time from DriveKNMS stock: 3–7 business days for in-stock items.
Each PR6423 assembly processed by DriveKNMS undergoes a structured verification protocol specific to eddy-current transducer systems:
