The Emerson Bently Nevada PR6426 eddy current sensor series, paired with CON021 signal conditioning modules, represents one of the most widely deployed proximity probe systems in global heavy industry. These sensors are installed in critical rotating machinery monitoring applications across petrochemical refineries, nuclear power stations, offshore platforms, LNG terminals, and large-scale chemical processing facilities. The PR6426 / CON021 combination operates on the 3300 XL series monitoring platform and is fully compatible with Bently Nevada's System 1 condition monitoring software. Their non-contact measurement principle — based on eddy current induction — provides continuous shaft displacement, vibration, and position data without mechanical wear, making them the standard reference for API 670-compliant machinery protection systems.
The PR6426 sensor family was introduced as part of Bently Nevada's 3300 XL proximity probe ecosystem, succeeding the earlier 3300 series probes. The original 3300 series established the 5-meter and 9-meter cable standard for eddy current proximity measurement; the PR6426 extended this with tighter dimensional tolerances, improved temperature coefficients, and broader chemical resistance for aggressive process environments. The CON021 signal conditioner replaced earlier conditioning modules by integrating the driver electronics into a compact DIN-rail or rack-mount form factor compatible with the 3300 XL monitor chassis. Key architectural milestones include the transition from single-ended to differential signal output, the introduction of ATEX/IECEx hazardous area certifications for Zone 1 and Zone 2 installations, and the standardization of the -24 VDC supply rail across all CON021 variants. As the 3300 XL platform has entered its mature/end-of-active-production phase, Emerson's current recommended migration path is toward the 3500 series rack-based monitoring system; however, the PR6426 / CON021 installed base remains extensive, and long-term spare parts support is a primary operational requirement for asset owners committed to existing infrastructure.

The PR6426 / CON021 system presents specific verification requirements due to the interdependency between probe tip geometry, cable capacitance, and conditioner calibration. DriveKNMS applies the following test protocol to all units processed through our facility: (1) Probe gap voltage verification using a calibrated target material (AISI 4140 steel) at defined gap increments per Bently Nevada calibration specification; (2) Cable continuity and insulation resistance test at 500 VDC to detect micro-fractures in integral cable assemblies; (3) CON021 output linearity sweep across the full measurement range (0–90 mil / 0–2.286 mm) with recorded deviation from nominal sensitivity; (4) Supply current draw verification against OEM specification to identify degraded internal components; (5) Connector integrity inspection for BNC and M12 terminations. All test records are retained and available upon request. Units that do not meet OEM specification tolerances are quarantined and not offered for sale.
