Technical Dossier
The EPRO PR6426 series is a family of eddy current proximity sensors engineered for continuous, non-contact displacement and vibration measurement in rotating machinery. Deployed across global heavy industry — including petrochemical refineries, nuclear power stations, offshore platforms, and large-scale turbomachinery installations — the PR6426 series forms a core sensing layer within Bently Nevada-compatible and standalone machinery protection systems. These sensors operate on the eddy current principle: a high-frequency oscillating magnetic field induces eddy currents in a conductive target, and the resulting impedance change is converted to a linear DC voltage output proportional to the gap distance. The PR6426 series is rated for continuous operation in high-temperature, high-vibration, and chemically aggressive environments, making it the reference standard for shaft radial vibration, axial position, and differential expansion measurement in steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors, and pumps.
The PR6426 series was developed by EPRO GmbH (Germany) as part of its MMS 6000 and standalone sensor product lines, designed to interface directly with EPRO signal conditioning electronics (CON0xx series) and third-party monitoring systems. Early variants of the PR6426 used a fixed-cable, integral-connector design optimized for direct panel-mount installations. As industrial standards evolved — particularly with the adoption of API 670 (5th Edition) for machinery protection — the PR6426 architecture was refined to support extended temperature ranges (up to 177°C at the probe tip), improved EMI shielding, and tighter linearity tolerances (±0.5% full scale). The CON011 conditioner series, which pairs with the PR6426 probe, provides the oscillator/demodulator function and outputs a standardized -24 VDC bias with a sensitivity of 7.87 V/mm or 200 mV/mil, depending on configuration. The /916-200 suffix denotes a 200 mV/mil output sensitivity variant with a 916 mm (36-inch) armored extension cable. As the MMS 6000 platform has transitioned to end-of-active-production, the PR6426 series now occupies a critical lifecycle-extension role: installed bases in refineries and power plants continue to rely on these sensors for decades beyond initial commissioning, requiring reliable access to exact-match spare parts and calibrated replacements.
The following SKUs represent the verified PR6426 series product range, classified by function and cable/conditioner configuration. Each model is a discrete, individually orderable part number.

The PR6426 series has entered the mature-to-declining phase of its product lifecycle. EPRO GmbH (now part of Baker Hughes / Bently Nevada ecosystem) has progressively shifted active development to next-generation sensor platforms. However, the installed base of PR6426 sensors in operating refineries, power stations, and chemical plants remains substantial, with many facilities maintaining these sensors in service for 20–30 year plant lifecycles. DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of PR6426 series probes, CON011 conditioners, and extension cable assemblies sourced through authorized distribution channels and verified surplus stock. For discontinued variants — including early-production PR6426/000-xxx probes with legacy connector types and CON011 conditioners with non-standard sensitivity outputs — DriveKNMS provides lifecycle extension support including: exact-match replacement sourcing, cross-reference identification for superseded part numbers, calibration verification against original EPRO factory specifications, and documentation support for plant maintenance records. Customers operating under API 670 compliance requirements can request full traceability documentation with each shipment.
Each PR6426 probe and CON011 conditioner processed by DriveKNMS undergoes a structured verification protocol before dispatch. Probe tip impedance is measured at the rated oscillator frequency to confirm the eddy current coil is intact and within specification. Extension cable continuity and shield integrity are verified end-to-end using a calibrated LCR meter. The complete probe-cable-conditioner system is assembled and tested on a calibrated target fixture: the output voltage is measured at five gap distances across the linear range, and the resulting sensitivity (mV/mil or V/mm) is compared against the nameplate specification. For the /916-200 variant, the acceptance criterion is 200 mV/mil ±2% across the 0.25 mm to 2.25 mm linear range. Units exhibiting non-linearity, sensitivity drift, or connector damage are quarantined and not dispatched. A test record is retained for each unit and is available to customers on request.
