The Evolution of NQ2P Architecture

The NQ2P series was introduced by Fuji Electric as a successor to the earlier NQ series compact PLCs, targeting applications requiring higher I/O density and improved network integration. Early NQ2P units operated on a proprietary backplane bus with fixed I/O configurations. Subsequent hardware revisions introduced modular expansion racks, enabling engineers to scale from 14-point base units up to 256+ I/O points through cascaded expansion modules. Communication capabilities evolved from RS-232C and RS-485 serial interfaces to include Ethernet TCP/IP adapters and Profibus-DP connectivity, allowing NQ2P controllers to integrate into modern SCADA and DCS architectures without full system replacement.
