Technical Dossier
The SPEEDTRONIC lineage began with Mark I (late 1960s), a relay-logic-based system with discrete analog cards for speed sensing, temperature monitoring, and fuel control. Mark II (early 1970s) introduced solid-state analog circuitry, retaining the same card-cage form factor but improving signal fidelity and reducing relay count. Mark IV (late 1970s–1980s) added microprocessor-assisted sequencing while preserving backward-compatible I/O card slots—this is the generation to which IC3600SIXL belongs. Mark V (1990s) represented a full digital transition: VME-bus architecture, redundant R, S, T processor voting, and serial I/O. Mark VI (2000s) moved to Ethernet-based I/O packs (IONet), replacing backplane-wired cards with distributed I/O modules. Mark VIe (2010s–present) is the current standard, featuring IEC 61131-3 programming, EtherNet/IP, and cybersecurity-hardened firmware.
Compatibility note: Mark I/II/IV cards (IC3600-series) are not electrically or mechanically interchangeable with Mark V (DS200-series) or Mark VI/VIe (IS200/IS215-series) modules. Panel retrofits require full engineering re-termination.
Mark I / II / IV — IC3600-Series Analog & Logic Cards
Mark V — DS200-Series (Digital Transition Generation)
GE formally discontinued Mark I, II, and IV SPEEDTRONIC hardware support. Mark V reached end-of-life (EOL) in 2016. DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of IC3600-series and DS200-series modules sourced from decommissioned turbine panels, controlled teardowns, and verified surplus channels. All units are catalogued by part number, date code, and board revision.
IC3600-series cards present specific test challenges due to hybrid analog-digital circuitry, aged electrolytic capacitors, and proprietary backplane bus protocols. DriveKNMS applies the following test protocol to all SPEEDTRONIC modules:
