Honeywell CC-P Series Technical Notes

The Evolution of CC-P Series Architecture

The CC-P I/O module family was introduced alongside the Experion PKS R100 release in the early 2000s as a replacement for the legacy TDC 3000 and PlantScape I/O infrastructure. The original CC-P modules operated on the FTE (Fault Tolerant Ethernet) backbone and communicated via the C300 Controller's IOTA (I/O Termination Assembly) backplane. Early revisions (Rev A/B) supported single-ended wiring configurations only. Subsequent hardware revisions introduced differential input support, extended temperature ratings (–40°C to +70°C for select models), and improved EMI shielding for use in electrically noisy environments such as motor control centers.

With the Experion PKS R400 and R500 software releases, Honeywell introduced the Series C I/O architecture (CC-IP/CC-OP series), which offers higher channel density and HART 7 pass-through. However, the CC-P series remains in active production and is fully supported under Honeywell's Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) program through at least 2030. Plants running Experion R210 through R500 can operate CC-P modules without hardware replacement, though firmware compatibility must be verified against the specific Experion release matrix.
