Technical Dossier
The Honeywell C300 Controller Series is the core processing and I/O infrastructure of the Experion PKS (Process Knowledge System) distributed control system. Deployed across the global heavy process industries — including petrochemical complexes, nuclear power generation facilities, offshore oil platforms, and large-scale refinery operations — the C300 platform represents one of the most widely installed DCS architectures in continuous process environments. Its modular backplane design, redundant communication fabric, and deterministic scan cycle make it the reference standard for safety-critical loop control in facilities operating under IEC 61511 and ISA-84 frameworks. The CC-TDIL51 and CC-PDIL51 are Digital Input modules within this series, providing 32-channel 24 VDC discrete input capability for field device status monitoring, interlock logic, and process permissive circuits.
The C300 platform was introduced by Honeywell as the successor to the TDC 3000 and PlantScape systems, consolidating legacy HPM (High-Performance Process Manager) and LCN (Local Control Network) architectures into a unified FTE (Fault Tolerant Ethernet) backbone. Early C300 deployments (circa 2004–2008) relied on IOTA (I/O Termination Assembly) boards paired with Series C I/O modules communicating over the CEE (C300 Ethernet Expander) bus. Subsequent revisions introduced the CIOM-A (C300 I/O Module Adapter) architecture, enabling hot-swap capability and improving mean-time-to-repair metrics in live plant environments. The CC-TDIL51 represents the standard (non-redundant) digital input variant, while the CC-PDIL51 is its redundant-capable paired counterpart — both operating within the same IOTA footprint and sharing identical field wiring terminations. As Experion PKS R500 and later R511 firmware releases matured, backward compatibility with R400-era C300 modules was maintained, though certain diagnostic features require firmware alignment between the C300 controller and its I/O modules. Sites running legacy R210 or R301 Experion versions must validate module firmware compatibility before field replacement.
The following represents the verified C300 Series module catalog, organized by functional category. Each SKU is a discrete, independently orderable line item within the Honeywell Experion PKS spare parts ecosystem.
