Technical Dossier
The Honeywell Experion PKS platform is one of the most widely deployed Distributed Control Systems (DCS) in global heavy industry. Installed across petrochemical complexes, nuclear power stations, LNG terminals, offshore platforms, and crude oil refineries, the Experion PKS architecture underpins continuous process control for facilities operating under the most demanding regulatory and safety requirements. The MC-PHAO01 (P/N 51403476-150) is a 16-channel HART-enabled analog output module within the Experion PKS C300 controller family, designed for precision 4–20 mA signal delivery to final control elements including control valves, variable speed drives, and positioners. Its native HART pass-through capability allows simultaneous process control and device diagnostics without additional wiring infrastructure.
Honeywell introduced the Experion PKS platform in 2001 as a successor to the TDC 3000 and PlantScape systems, consolidating process control, safety, and asset management under a unified architecture. The MC-series I/O modules were engineered for the C300 Controller, which replaced the earlier HPM (High-Performance Process Manager) and PM (Process Manager) modules used in TDC 3000 installations.
Early Experion PKS deployments (R100–R200, circa 2001–2005) relied on hardwired SCSI-based backplane communication. From R300 onward, Honeywell transitioned to FTE (Fault Tolerant Ethernet) as the primary supervisory network, while the EUCN (Enhanced Universal Control Network) and FIM (FIM4/FIM8) provided field-level redundancy. The MC-series modules communicate over the C300's internal IOTA (I/O Termination Assembly) backplane, which provides both power distribution and high-speed data exchange.
By R400–R500 (2010–2018), the MC-series reached functional maturity. Honeywell introduced the LEAP (Lifecycle Extension and Availability Program) to extend support for sites unwilling or unable to migrate to the newer Experion PKS Highly Integrated Virtual Environment (HIVE) or Series C I/O architecture. As of 2024, many MC-series modules are classified as mature/end-of-production by Honeywell, making third-party sourcing and certified refurbishment critical for ongoing plant operations.

DriveKNMS does not substitute part numbers or supply functionally similar but non-identical modules without explicit customer authorization. Each sourcing request is evaluated against the customer's system release documentation before a unit is committed.
MC-series modules present specific test challenges due to their integrated IOTA backplane interface, HART modem circuitry, and FTE-dependent diagnostic reporting. DriveKNMS applies the following test protocol to all MC-series units prior to dispatch:
