Technical Dossier
The JETTER JX6 series is a modular programmable logic controller (PLC) platform engineered and manufactured in Germany by Jetter AG. It has established a significant installed base across heavy industrial sectors including chemical processing plants, refinery automation, nuclear facility auxiliary systems, and large-scale manufacturing lines throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The JX6 architecture is built around a passive backplane (card rack) system, where the JX6-BASIS-8 serves as the 8-slot card rack — the physical backbone into which all CPU, I/O, and communication modules are inserted. Its DIN-rail-compatible form factor and robust backplane bus make it a standard infrastructure component in JX6-based control cabinets. Due to the platform's long deployment history, a substantial number of JX6 installations remain in active production service, creating sustained demand for both new and refurbished spare parts.
Jetter AG introduced the JX6 platform as a successor to earlier relay-based and first-generation PLC systems, targeting mid-to-large scale machine automation and process control. The JX6 architecture is defined by its modular slot-based design: a central card rack (BASIS) accepts interchangeable modules across CPU, digital I/O, analog I/O, and fieldbus communication categories. Early JX6 deployments used proprietary Jetter bus communication between the CPU and I/O modules via the backplane. Later revisions introduced support for CANopen and PROFIBUS-DP fieldbus adapters, extending the platform's integration capability with third-party field devices. The JX6 series has entered its mature/end-of-life phase; Jetter AG has transitioned its current product portfolio toward the JX3 and JetWeb platforms. However, the JX6 remains in active service at thousands of installed sites globally, and original spare parts — particularly card racks, CPUs, and I/O modules — are no longer manufactured in volume, making secondary market sourcing critical for plant maintenance teams.
The following SKUs represent the core module range of the JETTER JX6 series, classified by functional category. All models listed are verified JX6-series components.
Card Racks (BASIS)
CPU / Controller Modules
Digital Input Modules (DI)
Digital Output Modules (DO)
Analog Input / Output Modules (AI/AO)
Communication / Fieldbus Adapters
Power Supply Modules
With the JX6 series in end-of-life status, OEM production of most modules has ceased. Plant operators and maintenance engineers face a narrowing supply window for critical spare parts including card racks, CPU modules, and fieldbus adapters. DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of JX6 series components sourced through authorized secondary market channels, decommissioned equipment, and verified surplus stock. All JX6 units in our inventory are catalogued by part number, hardware revision, and functional test status. For obsolete models such as the JX6-CPU-1, JX6-DI8-120VAC, and early-revision JX6-BASIS-4 racks, DriveKNMS provides lifecycle extension support including cross-reference to compatible replacement modules where direct substitution is possible. Customers requiring long-term maintenance agreements or multi-unit procurement for plant-wide JX6 installations are encouraged to contact our technical team directly.
JX6 modules present specific testing challenges due to their backplane bus architecture and slot-dependent addressing. DriveKNMS applies a structured test protocol for all JX6 units prior to dispatch. Each card rack (BASIS) undergoes physical inspection of backplane connector pins, slot guide rails, and bus termination integrity. CPU modules are bench-tested in a live JX6 rack with verified power supply, confirming boot sequence, memory integrity, and communication port functionality. I/O modules are tested under load conditions: digital inputs are verified with 24 VDC signal injection across all channels; digital outputs are tested with resistive loads; analog modules are calibrated against reference signals at 0%, 50%, and 100% of rated range. Fieldbus modules (PROFIBUS-DP, CANopen) are tested for network enumeration and data exchange with a master controller. All units are issued a test report and shipped with ESD-protective packaging.
