Technical Dossier
The KOOLTRONIC K2NA Series represents a purpose-engineered line of enclosure air conditioning units deployed across global heavy industry sectors including petrochemical refineries, offshore platforms, nuclear auxiliary buildings, and continuous-process chemical plants. These units are designed to maintain precise thermal control within electrical enclosures housing PLCs, DCS controllers, drives, and relay panels — environments where ambient temperature excursions directly translate to unplanned downtime and safety incidents. The K2NA platform is characterized by its use of R134A refrigerant (a non-ozone-depleting HFC), hermetically sealed compressor assemblies, and a modular mounting architecture compatible with standard 19-inch and custom enclosure profiles. Installed base spans Siemens, ABB, Emerson DeltaV, and Honeywell TDC-3000 control room environments globally.
KOOLTRONIC's enclosure cooling product line originated in the 1970s with compressor-based units using R-12 and R-22 refrigerants, designed for the then-dominant relay logic and early PLC control panels. The transition to R134A refrigerant across the K2NA platform occurred in the mid-1990s in compliance with the Montreal Protocol phase-out schedule, requiring redesigned heat exchanger geometries and updated compressor specifications. Early K2NA units (pre-2000) used capillary tube expansion systems; later revisions introduced thermostatic expansion valves (TXV) for improved efficiency across variable ambient conditions. The DA02A-33110 controller board generation introduced digital thermostat control and fault relay outputs, replacing the earlier bimetal thermostat assemblies. Units carrying the 810-240888-002 assembly designation represent the mature production revision with updated capacitor specifications and improved EMI filtering on the control circuit. Compatibility between early and late K2NA sub-assemblies is limited — compressor assemblies, evaporator coil packs, and control boards are generally not interchangeable across major revision breaks without engineering verification.
The following SKUs represent verified models within the KOOLTRONIC K2NA enclosure air conditioner platform. Units are categorized by cooling capacity and configuration type.

The K2NA Series has entered the mature-to-declining phase of its product lifecycle. KOOLTRONIC has progressively reduced factory support for older sub-assemblies, and several control board revisions (DA02A-33100 and earlier) are no longer available through standard distribution channels. DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of K2NA series components sourced through authorized surplus channels, OEM overstock acquisitions, and decommissioned plant asset recovery programs. For end-users operating K2NA units in long-lifecycle facilities — nuclear auxiliary systems, continuous chemical processes, offshore installations — DriveKNMS provides lifecycle extension support including: direct replacement of obsolete control PCBs, compressor sub-assembly exchange, refrigerant circuit leak testing and recharge, and cross-reference identification for superseded part numbers. Customers are encouraged to submit their full BOM or nameplate data for accurate cross-referencing, as K2NA sub-assembly compatibility is revision-dependent.
Each K2NA unit processed by DriveKNMS undergoes a structured inspection and functional test protocol specific to refrigerant-based enclosure cooling systems. The test sequence includes: visual inspection of compressor housing, refrigerant line connections, and capacitor condition; electrical continuity and insulation resistance testing on the control PCB (DA02A series boards); compressor run test under load with refrigerant pressure monitoring on both high-side and low-side circuits; thermostat setpoint verification and fault relay output confirmation; and condenser and evaporator fan motor current draw measurement against nameplate specification. Units with R134A circuits are leak-tested using electronic refrigerant detection prior to dispatch. All test results are documented and available upon request for customer quality records.
