The 1756-EN2T/C occupies a specific and non-trivial role in ControlLogix architectures built during the mid-2000s through early 2010s. It serves as the primary EtherNet/IP bridge between the ControlLogix backplane and the plant Ethernet network, enabling communication with remote I/O adapters, drives, HMI panels, and historian systems. In installations where the /C revision was specified during commissioning, the firmware behavior, CIP connection parameters, and backplane timing characteristics are embedded assumptions in the PLC program logic and network topology. Step 3 – Firmware version verification: The installed firmware version is read and documented. This information is provided to the buyer to support change control documentation and compatibility verification.
Step 4 – Corrosion and contamination check: PCB surfaces, edge connectors, and backplane contacts are inspected for oxidation, flux residue, and environmental contamination. Affected units undergo controlled cleaning before re-evaluation.
Units that do not pass all five steps are not offered for sale. Condition grade (New Surplus, Tested Refurbished) is disclosed on the invoice.
The 1756-EN2T/C is a direct drop-in replacement for any existing 1756-EN2T/C installation. No PLC reprogramming is required. No network reconfiguration is required. The module seats into the existing ControlLogix chassis slot and resumes the communication role of the failed unit. Given that secondary market availability of the /C revision is finite and declining, procurement decisions made today will not be available to repeat in 12–24 months.
