Technical Dossier
The 3300 Series was introduced as ProSoft Technology's answer to the growing demand for multi-protocol interoperability in the late 1990s and early 2000s, when industrial facilities were operating heterogeneous networks — Modbus RTU/ASCII, Modbus Plus, PROFIBUS DP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, and DH+ — simultaneously within a single plant. Early 3300 modules used a dual-port memory architecture with a shared RAM interface to the ControlLogix backplane, communicating via the RSLogix 5000 MSG instruction. This design remained consistent across the product family, enabling a common configuration methodology regardless of the target protocol.
The following SKUs represent verified, commonly deployed modules within the ProSoft Technology 3300 Series. Modules are classified by functional category.
Communication Adapters — Modbus & Legacy Serial
PROFIBUS & DeviceNet I/O Adapters
Industrial Ethernet & EtherNet/IP
Specialty Protocol & Process Control
All sourced 3300 Series modules are subject to full functional verification before dispatch. DriveKNMS provides documentation of test results upon request, and can supply modules with original ProSoft Technology firmware versions to ensure compatibility with existing RSLogix 5000 Add-On Instructions (AOIs) and configuration files already deployed in the field. For facilities operating under IEC 61511 or ISA-84 functional safety frameworks, DriveKNMS can provide traceability documentation to support management of change (MOC) procedures.
The 3300 Series modules use a dual-port RAM backplane interface and an onboard processor running ProSoft Technology's proprietary firmware stack. Quality verification for these modules requires protocol-specific test environments that replicate the target fieldbus network. DriveKNMS employs the following test procedures for 3300 Series modules:
