The ProvibTech PT2060 series is a line of continuous vibration monitoring modules engineered for permanent installation in rotating machinery protection systems. Deployed across petrochemical refineries, offshore platforms, nuclear auxiliary systems, and heavy industrial compressor trains, the PT2060 platform occupies a critical position in the global condition monitoring infrastructure. Its modular rack-based architecture allows plant engineers to configure channel-specific monitoring for displacement, velocity, and acceleration signals, making it a standard reference in API 670-compliant machinery protection installations. The series is compatible with eddy-current proximity probes, seismic velocity transducers, and accelerometers, covering the full spectrum of rotating equipment diagnostics from low-speed turbines to high-speed centrifugal compressors.
The PT2060 platform was developed by ProvibTech (formerly a division of Provibtech S.A.) as a direct-mount, DIN-rail and rack-compatible monitoring solution targeting the mid-tier machinery protection market. Early revisions of the PT2060 used analog signal conditioning with discrete relay outputs, conforming to the 4–20 mA transmission standard prevalent in 1990s DCS integration. Subsequent hardware revisions introduced configurable alarm setpoints via front-panel DIP switches, followed by later firmware-enabled digital configuration interfaces. The /40 channel designation in the PT2060/40 refers to the 4–20 mA output channel count and relay configuration specific to that module variant. As Bently Nevada 3500 and Emerson CSI systems expanded their market share, ProvibTech positioned the PT2060 as a cost-effective alternative with equivalent API 670 compliance. The series entered its mature phase in the 2010s; current installations are predominantly in brownfield sites where replacement with newer platforms (such as the ProvibTech PT8800 or third-party systems) is cost-prohibitive. Long-term maintenance support, including spare channel cards and relay output boards, remains the primary commercial driver for this series.
