Technical Dossier
The PROVIBTECH TM0180 series is an eddy-current proximity probe system engineered for continuous, non-contact measurement of shaft displacement, vibration, and position in rotating machinery. It is deployed across global heavy industries including petrochemical refineries, nuclear power stations, offshore platforms, and large-scale compressor trains. The TM0180 system conforms to API 670 standards for machinery protection and is fully compatible with Bently Nevada 3300 and 7200 series signal conditioning infrastructure, making it a widely adopted drop-in alternative in brownfield installations. The probe-extension cable-driver architecture of the TM0180 series allows field-configurable gap ranges and sensitivity settings, enabling precise adaptation to turbine, compressor, pump, and gearbox monitoring applications without hardware redesign.
The TM0180 series was developed as a second-generation eddy-current probe platform, succeeding earlier single-piece probe designs that lacked field-replaceable extension cables. The modular three-component architecture — probe body, extension cable, and driver/oscillator — was introduced to reduce total replacement cost and allow independent component substitution during maintenance windows. Early TM0180 variants used fixed-sensitivity drivers calibrated to AISI 4140 steel targets. Subsequent revisions introduced adjustable sensitivity drivers (the -D suffix variants) to accommodate non-ferrous target materials including titanium and Inconel alloys common in aerospace-grade turbomachinery. The -B suffix designates the extension cable length in meters, while the -A suffix encodes the probe body diameter and thread specification. The -C suffix identifies the driver output range (typically 0–24 VDC linear). As of 2024, the TM0180 series is in its mature lifecycle phase. PROVIBTECH continues to supply replacement components, but new installations increasingly migrate to the TM0181 and TM0182 series with integrated HART communication. DriveKNMS maintains full inventory coverage for all TM0180 suffix combinations to support long-term maintenance contracts at existing installations.
The following SKUs represent the verified TM0180 series component matrix. Each entry reflects a distinct configuration of probe diameter, cable length, output range, and driver sensitivity.

The TM0180 series entered its mature lifecycle phase circa 2019. While PROVIBTECH continues limited production runs, lead times for non-standard suffix combinations can exceed 16 weeks through OEM channels. DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory buffer of TM0180 components sourced from decommissioned plant equipment, authorized distributor overstock, and factory-sealed new-old-stock (NOS) units. For operators running API 670-compliant machinery protection systems with existing TM0180 installations, DriveKNMS provides: direct cross-reference to equivalent TM0181/TM0182 replacements where applicable; supply of individual probe bodies, extension cables, and driver units as separate line items to minimize replacement cost; and emergency same-day dispatch for critical plant shutdown scenarios. All obsolete TM0180 units supplied by DriveKNMS are accompanied by full traceability documentation including batch records and calibration certificates.
Each TM0180 unit processed by DriveKNMS undergoes a structured verification protocol prior to dispatch. Probe body inspection includes dimensional verification of tip geometry and thread specification against OEM drawings. Extension cable continuity and insulation resistance are tested at 500 VDC to detect degradation in the coaxial shielding. Driver/oscillator modules are bench-tested on a calibrated steel target fixture to verify output linearity across the full gap range (typically 0.25 mm to 2.25 mm for 8mm probes). Sensitivity is confirmed at the nominal 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil) output coefficient. System-level testing connects probe, cable, and driver as a matched set and records the static characteristic curve. Units that deviate beyond ±1% of the published sensitivity specification are rejected. All test data is logged and supplied with the shipment as a calibration record.
