The Schneider Electric TSX Premium series (Modicon Premium) is a mid-to-high range programmable logic controller platform deployed across global heavy industry verticals including petrochemical refineries, nuclear power auxiliary systems, offshore platforms, and continuous-process chemical plants. Its modular rack-based architecture, deterministic scan cycle, and IEC 61131-3 compliance made it the reference platform for process automation in European and Asian industrial markets from the mid-1990s through the 2010s. Installed base counts in the hundreds of thousands of racks globally, with active maintenance contracts still running at facilities where full migration to Modicon M580 or M340 is deferred due to capital expenditure constraints or process criticality.

The Evolution of TSX Premium Architecture

The TSX Premium platform was introduced by Schneider Electric (then Telemecanique/Square D) in the mid-1990s as a successor to the TSX 7 series. The original TSXP57 CPU family launched with Unity Pro software compatibility and a proprietary Fipio fieldbus backbone. Key architectural milestones:
