Teledyne Dalsa PC-30 Series: Comprehensive Module Range and Technical Overview

The Teledyne Dalsa PC-30 series represents a mature, field-proven line of CCD-based line scan cameras engineered for high-throughput industrial imaging applications. Deployed extensively in continuous web inspection, flat panel display testing, semiconductor wafer metrology, and print quality verification, the PC-30 platform has accumulated significant installed base across chemical processing facilities, electronics manufacturing lines, and precision printing operations globally. The series is characterized by its GigE Vision interface compliance, Camera Link output options, and configurable resolution tiers ranging from 2K to 8K pixels, making it a reference-grade platform for machine vision integrators operating in demanding 24/7 production environments.

The Evolution of PC-30 Architecture

The PC-30 series was developed by Dalsa Corporation (acquired by Teledyne Technologies in 2011) as a successor to earlier CCD line scan platforms. Early revisions of the PC-30 architecture utilized parallel Camera Link Base/Medium/Full configurations to achieve high line rates, with pixel clocks up to 80 MHz. Subsequent hardware revisions introduced improved analog front-end circuitry, reducing fixed-pattern noise and improving dynamic range to exceed 60 dB in select models. The integration of GigE Vision (GigE) interface variants expanded deployment flexibility, eliminating the frame grabber requirement for lower-bandwidth configurations. As the series matured, Teledyne Dalsa introduced the Linea and Linea ML families as the designated modern successors, incorporating CMOS sensor technology, higher line rates, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) support. The PC-30 series is now in the end-of-life / mature phase; Teledyne Dalsa no longer manufactures new units, but the platform remains in active service at thousands of installed sites. Long-term maintenance support, including spare unit sourcing and repair, is the primary operational requirement for PC-30 users.

Sourcing Hard-to-Find & Obsolete PC-30 Parts

The PC-30 series has been formally discontinued by Teledyne Dalsa. New production units are no longer available through authorized distribution channels. For facilities operating PC-30 cameras in long-cycle production environments — including nuclear power instrumentation, chemical plant quality control, and legacy semiconductor fabs — replacement unit sourcing requires access to secondary market inventory and refurbished stock.

DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of PC-30 series units, including the PC-30-04K80-00 and related high-resolution variants. Our sourcing network covers tested surplus stock from decommissioned production lines, factory-refurbished units with verified sensor calibration, and cross-compatible substitution advisory for facilities evaluating migration to the Teledyne Dalsa Linea or Linea ML platform. All units are supplied with documented provenance and test records. Inquiries for bulk quantities, emergency replacement, or long-term supply agreements are handled directly by our technical sales team.

Quality Control for the PC-30 Range

Line scan cameras present distinct verification challenges compared to area scan devices. The PC-30 series, utilizing a single-line CCD sensor, requires functional validation across the full pixel array under controlled illumination conditions. DriveKNMS applies the following test protocol to all PC-30 units prior to shipment:

Flat-field uniformity verification: Each unit is imaged against a calibrated integrating sphere light source. Pixel response non-uniformity (PRNU) must be within ±2% across the full 4096-pixel array for 4K models. Dark current measurement: Units are evaluated at 25°C ambient with lens cap installed. Dark signal non-uniformity (DSNU) is recorded and compared against Teledyne Dalsa factory specification sheets. Camera Link signal integrity: Output signals are verified using a certified Camera Link analyzer at the rated pixel clock frequency (80 MHz for PC-30-04K80-00). Bit error rate testing is performed at full line rate. Trigger and encoder input response: External trigger latency and encoder input tracking are validated using a precision pulse generator. Firmware version verification: FPGA firmware revision is confirmed and documented. Units with outdated firmware are updated where applicable prior to shipment.
