Technical Dossier
The UniOP eTOP series represents one of the most widely deployed human-machine interface (HMI) product lines in global heavy industry. Manufactured by UniOP (a brand under Exor International, later acquired by Zynx/Beijer Electronics group), eTOP panels have accumulated significant installed base across petrochemical refineries, chemical processing plants, power generation facilities (including nuclear auxiliary systems), and continuous manufacturing lines in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Their prevalence in safety-critical and long-lifecycle environments means demand for spare units, repair services, and compatible replacements persists well beyond the series' active production window.
The eTOP product line evolved through several distinct hardware generations, each reflecting the display and communication technology available at the time of design.
Generation 1 (eTOP10 / eTOP11 / eTOP12): Monochrome STN LCD panels with membrane keypad input. These units communicated via RS-232/RS-485 serial links and were programmed using the Designer software suite. Backlight life was rated at approximately 20,000 hours, making backlight replacement a primary maintenance concern for units still in service.
Generation 2 (eTOP30 / eTOP31 / eTOP32): Introduced color TFT displays at 5.7" and 6.5" diagonal. Touch input became standard. Communication expanded to include Ethernet (10BaseT) on select models. The eTOP30 series established the physical form factor and panel-cut dimensions that carried forward into the eTOP40 generation, simplifying retrofit installations.
Generation 3 (eTOP40 / eTOP41 / eTOP42 / eTOP43): The eTOP40 family represents the mature, highest-volume generation of the eTOP line. Displays range from 5.7" (eTOP40A) to 10.4" (eTOP43). The eTOP40B specifically uses a 5.7" color TFT display with analog resistive touch, 256-color rendering, and a 32-bit RISC processor. Communication ports include RS-232, RS-485, and Ethernet. The eTOP40B-0050 variant designates the standard 5.7" color touch panel configuration within the eTOP40B sub-family. Programming is performed via UniOP Designer or NeoPAD software. The eTOP40 series is now in end-of-life / mature phase; Exor/Beijer Electronics positions the eX700 and eXP series as modern replacements, though panel-cut dimensions differ and direct drop-in replacement requires mechanical adaptation.
Compatibility Note: eTOP40-generation panels are not electrically or mechanically interchangeable with eTOP10/30 units without modification. Project files created in Designer for eTOP30 require conversion before deployment on eTOP40 hardware.

The UniOP eTOP series has entered end-of-life status across most sub-families. OEM new-stock availability from authorized distributors is limited or exhausted for eTOP10, eTOP11, eTOP12, eTOP30, eTOP31, and eTOP32 models. eTOP40-generation units (including the eTOP40B-0050) are available through specialist industrial spare parts distributors, though lead times and stock levels vary significantly by region.
DriveKNMS maintains sourcing channels for the full eTOP range, including end-of-life and discontinued variants. Our procurement network covers:
For plants operating eTOP-based SCADA or HMI architectures with no near-term migration budget, DriveKNMS provides lifecycle extension support: sourcing, repair assessment, and multi-unit buffer stock procurement to cover planned maintenance intervals.
UniOP eTOP panels integrate display, touch controller, communication interfaces, and application processor on a single compact assembly. Quality verification for used or refurbished units requires systematic functional testing across all subsystems:
All units shipped by DriveKNMS are accompanied by a test report documenting results for each of the above checkpoints.
