The PW481 lineage traces to Yokogawa's CENTUM XL and CENTUM CS platforms of the early 1990s, where modular, rack-mounted power distribution was first standardized for DCS field stations. With the introduction of CENTUM CS 3000 (circa 1998), the PW481 form factor was refined to support dual-redundant power bus architecture, allowing hot-swap replacement without process interruption.
