Technical Dossier
The Bently Nevada 3300 Series Proximity Transducer System is one of the most widely deployed machinery protection platforms in global heavy industry. Installed across petrochemical refineries, nuclear power stations, offshore platforms, LNG terminals, and rotating equipment facilities, the 3300 Series provides continuous, real-time vibration, position, and speed monitoring for critical turbomachinery including steam turbines, gas compressors, centrifugal pumps, and large electric motors. Its modular architecture — comprising probes, extension cables, drivers/proximitors, and rack-mounted monitors — has made it the de facto standard for API 670-compliant machinery protection systems since the 1980s. The system's long service life means that a significant portion of installed base units are operating on original hardware, creating sustained global demand for genuine replacement components, calibrated spare modules, and lifecycle extension support.
The 3300 Series was introduced by Bently Nevada Corporation in the early 1980s as a modular, rack-based successor to earlier discrete transducer systems. The original architecture centered on the 3300/16 and 3300/20 monitor cards, which accepted signals from eddy-current proximity probes via matched extension cables and proximitor drivers. These three-component transducer chains — probe, extension cable, and proximitor — were engineered as calibrated systems; substituting unmatched components degrades measurement accuracy and voids API 670 compliance.
Through the 1990s, Bently Nevada expanded the 3300 Series to include dedicated thrust position monitors, differential expansion modules, eccentricity monitors, and speed/phase reference cards. The introduction of the 3500 Series in the mid-1990s provided a digital, fieldbus-capable successor, but the 3300 Series remained in active production and support for decades due to the enormous installed base. Baker Hughes (which acquired Bently Nevada in 2002) officially transitioned the 3300 Series to a legacy/mature lifecycle status, with the 3500 Series and later the System 1 platform designated as the forward migration path. Despite this, the 3300 Series remains operational in thousands of facilities worldwide, and sourcing calibrated replacement cables, proximitors, and monitor cards continues to be a critical maintenance requirement.
Compatibility note: 3300 Series extension cables are length- and impedance-matched to specific probe models. The 330130 cable series is designed for use with 330100 and 330101 8mm probes. Mixing cable lengths or probe types without recalibration will produce measurement errors. Always verify the complete transducer chain (probe + cable + proximitor) when sourcing replacement parts.
The following SKUs represent verified, commonly stocked components within the Bently Nevada 3300 Series ecosystem, organized by functional category.
Extension Cables — 330130 Series (8mm Probe, Standard)
Extension Cables — 330180 Series (14mm Probe, Standard)
Proximity Probes — 330100 / 330101 Series (8mm)
Proximitor Drivers — 3300 XL Series
Monitor Cards — 3300 Rack System
DriveKNMS also supports bill-of-materials (BOM) sourcing for complete transducer chain replacements — probe, cable, and proximitor — ensuring matched-system integrity without requiring customers to source each component separately.
The 3300 Series transducer chain is a precision measurement system. Extension cables such as the 330130-085-03-05 are not passive components — their electrical characteristics (capacitance, resistance, and impedance) are matched to specific probe and proximitor combinations. DriveKNMS applies the following quality control procedures to all 3300 Series inventory:
