Technical Dossier
The Bently Nevada 3300 NSv (Non-contacting Vibration) series is a field-proven machinery protection and condition monitoring platform deployed across the global heavy process industries — including petrochemical refineries, nuclear power stations, offshore platforms, LNG terminals, and rotating equipment-intensive chemical plants. The 3300 NSv system is engineered to continuously monitor shaft radial vibration, axial position, differential expansion, and eccentricity on critical rotating machinery including steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors, pumps, and generators. Its modular rack-based architecture allows integration into both standalone machinery protection panels and plant-wide DCS/SIS environments via standard 4–20 mA, relay, and serial communication outputs. The platform is API 670 compliant and has accumulated decades of installed base across facilities operated by ExxonMobil, Shell, SABIC, Sinopec, and comparable tier-1 operators.
The 3300 NSv series was introduced by Bently Nevada (now a Baker Hughes company) as a successor to the earlier 3300 XL platform, addressing limitations in signal conditioning bandwidth and rack density. The architecture centers on a passive eddy-current probe (the field transducer), a proximitor/extension cable assembly (the signal conditioning element), and a rack-mounted monitor card (the processing and output element). Early 3300 NSv configurations used discrete single-channel monitor cards with fixed measurement ranges. Subsequent revisions introduced dual-channel cards, configurable full-scale ranges, and enhanced EMI shielding for nuclear-qualified installations. The system communicates with host DCS platforms via hardwired 4–20 mA loops and volt-free relay contacts; later firmware revisions added Modbus RTU capability on select monitor types. The 3300 NSv is now in the mature/end-of-active-production phase. Baker Hughes continues to supply spare parts and repair services, but new system design is directed toward the System 1 / 3701 platform. For operators committed to long-term 3300 NSv installations, DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of new-surplus, refurbished, and tested spare modules to extend system life beyond OEM active support windows.
The following SKUs represent verified, commonly stocked components within the Bently Nevada 3300 NSv series, classified by functional category:
Probes & Transducers
Extension Cables
Proximitors (Signal Conditioners)
Monitor Cards (Rack-Mounted)
Rack & Power Supply
The 3300 NSv system relies on precise impedance matching between the probe tip, extension cable, and proximitor to maintain calibrated output sensitivity (typically 7.87 V/mm or 200 mV/mil). Any deviation in cable length, connector integrity, or proximitor gain introduces measurement error that can result in false trips or missed fault detection on critical machinery. DriveKNMS applies a dedicated test protocol for all 3300 NSv components prior to shipment:
All test results are documented and available to customers as part of the shipment package.
