The Evolution of C300 Series Architecture

The C300 Controller was introduced as part of Honeywell's Experion PKS R100 release in the early 2000s, succeeding the TDC 3000 and PlantScape platforms. Early C300 deployments used Series A I/O Link modules with limited channel density. With Experion R210 and R300, Honeywell introduced the IOLINK-based Series C modules (prefix 8C-), which significantly expanded analog and digital I/O density and added native HART pass-through capability on analog channels.

The 8C-TAOX51 module (part number 51306983-175) is a 5-channel Analog Output module operating in the C300 I/O subsystem. It outputs 4–20 mA signals to final control elements (control valves, variable speed drives) and supports HART communication for device diagnostics.
