Technical Dossier
The Honeywell Experion PKS C300 controller platform is one of the most widely deployed Distributed Control Systems (DCS) in global heavy industry. Installed across petrochemical complexes, nuclear power stations, oil refineries, pulp and paper mills, and LNG terminals, the C300 architecture represents Honeywell's primary process automation backbone for large-scale continuous operations. The CC-TAIX61 (P/N 51307077-175) is a 16-channel Analog Input HART module within this ecosystem, designed for direct integration into the Series C I/O subsystem via the FIM (Field Interface Module) backplane.
Honeywell introduced the Experion PKS platform in 2001 as a successor to the TDC 3000 and PlantScape systems. The C300 controller, released as the core processing unit of this platform, replaced the earlier C200 and C200E controllers while maintaining backward compatibility with legacy Series C I/O hardware. The C300 communicates over the FTE (Fault Tolerant Ethernet) network, a dual-ring 100 Mbps redundant backbone that replaced the older UCN (Universal Control Network) used in TDC 3000 installations.
The Series C I/O modules — identified by the CC-T prefix — were designed to interface with the C300 via the CIOM-A (Control I/O Module Adapter) and FIM4/FIM8 backplane assemblies. Early revisions of these modules (pre-2008) used a single-bus backplane architecture; later revisions introduced dual-bus redundancy for critical process loops. The CC-TAIX61 belongs to the mature generation of this I/O family, supporting HART pass-through communication for field device diagnostics — a capability absent in earlier CC-AI01 and CC-AI02 analog input variants.

C300 Series C I/O modules present specific test challenges due to their CIOM-A backplane bus protocol and HART communication stack. DriveKNMS applies the following verification procedures to all C300 I/O modules prior to shipment:
