Technical Dossier
The Integral Solutions QPS-1050 series represents a mature, field-proven distributed control system (DCS) platform with documented deployment across global heavy industry sectors including petrochemical refining, nuclear power generation, offshore oil & gas processing, and large-scale chemical manufacturing. Its modular backplane architecture allows mixed I/O configurations within a single rack, a design characteristic that made it a preferred platform for brownfield expansions throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Installed base density remains high in facilities operating under long capital replacement cycles, making spare parts availability a critical operational requirement for maintenance engineers and reliability teams worldwide.
The QPS-1050 platform was introduced as a rack-based modular controller system designed around a proprietary high-speed backplane bus. Early revisions (Rev A/B) used parallel bus communication between the CPU module and I/O cards, with a maximum rack capacity of 16 slots. Mid-generation revisions introduced redundant bus arbitration and hot-swap capability for select module types, significantly improving mean time to repair (MTTR) in continuous-process environments.
The QST-2xxx sub-series (Signal Termination / Input modules) was introduced to standardize field wiring termination, separating signal conditioning from the main I/O logic board. This two-board architecture — a termination assembly (TA) paired with an I/O module — became the defining structural characteristic of the QPS-1050 I/O subsystem. Compatibility between TA generations and I/O module firmware revisions is a known integration constraint; mismatched revisions can result in channel faults or loss of HART communication on analog inputs.
As the platform entered its end-of-active-production phase, Integral Solutions released migration guides toward the QPS-2100 and QPS-3000 series. However, the installed base of QPS-1050 systems in facilities with 20+ year operational horizons means that demand for original replacement modules — particularly CPU, analog I/O, and communication adapter cards — remains commercially significant.
The following SKUs represent verified components within the QPS-1050 platform. Modules are classified by functional category.

The QPS-1050 series has been classified as end-of-active-production by Integral Solutions. Factory new stock is no longer available through standard distribution channels. DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory program for QPS-1050 platform components, sourced through controlled decommissioning projects, authorized surplus channels, and long-term storage facilities.
QPS-1050 modules present specific test challenges due to their proprietary backplane bus protocol and multi-board I/O architecture. DriveKNMS applies a structured test protocol for all QPS-1050 inventory:
