Technical Dossier
The JETTER JM Series represents a compact, high-performance servo drive platform engineered for precision motion control in demanding industrial environments. Deployed extensively across chemical processing plants, automotive assembly lines, packaging machinery, and discrete manufacturing facilities throughout Europe and Asia-Pacific, the JM Series has established a significant installed base in applications requiring deterministic torque and velocity control with tight synchronization tolerances. The series interfaces natively with JETTER's JetSym programming environment and supports CANopen and RS-232/RS-485 fieldbus architectures, making it a standard component in multi-axis motion systems built on JETTER's JetControl platform. Its compact DIN-rail form factor and integrated power stage design reduced panel footprint requirements, which drove adoption in OEM machine builder applications from the late 1990s through the 2010s.
The JM Series was introduced as JETTER's answer to the growing demand for integrated servo solutions that could operate without a separate power supply module. Early variants in the JM-1xx sub-range targeted single-axis applications with RS-232 configuration interfaces and analog ±10V command inputs. The JM-2xx generation, which includes the JM-203-230-RS, introduced RS-485 multi-drop communication capability, enabling daisy-chained axis configurations on a single serial bus — a significant architectural shift for cost-sensitive OEM designs. The suffix "-230" denotes the 230 VAC single-phase or three-phase input voltage rating, while "-RS" identifies the RS-485 serial interface variant as opposed to CANopen ("-CO") or analog-only ("-AN") configurations.
Compatibility considerations are critical for maintenance engineers: JM-2xx drives use a proprietary 15-pin D-Sub encoder interface that is not pin-compatible with the later JM-3xx and JetMove 200 series. Firmware versions prior to 2.x do not support the extended parameter set used by JetSym ST 4.0 and later. Engineers replacing JM-2xx units must verify firmware compatibility with the host JetControl CPU before commissioning.
The JM Series has entered the mature/end-of-life phase. JETTER's current motion platform — the JetMove 200 and JetMove 600 series — serves as the functional successor. However, the JM Series remains in active service across thousands of installed machines, and replacement units are not directly plug-and-play substitutes due to differences in parameter structure and connector pinout.
The following SKUs represent verified models within the JETTER JM Series, categorized by input voltage and communication interface.
230 VAC Input — RS-485 Interface
230 VAC Input — CANopen Interface
400 VAC Input — RS-485 Interface
400 VAC Input — CANopen Interface
The JETTER JM Series is no longer in active production. Standard distribution channels — including authorized JETTER distributors — carry limited or zero stock for most JM-2xx and JM-1xx variants. DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of new-old-stock (NOS), refurbished, and tested-serviceable JM Series units sourced through closed OEM channels and decommissioned machine buybacks.
All JM Series units processed by DriveKNMS undergo a structured test protocol adapted to the specific electrical and communication architecture of the platform. The test sequence includes: incoming visual inspection for capacitor bulge, PCB corrosion, and connector wear; DC bus capacitance measurement against OEM specification; power stage IGBT/MOSFET switching verification under resistive load; encoder interface continuity and signal integrity check on the 15-pin D-Sub port; RS-485 or CANopen communication handshake test using a JETTER JetControl reference controller; and closed-loop velocity and torque response validation at 25%, 50%, and 100% rated current. Units that fail any stage are either repaired to specification or quarantined and listed as parts-only. Test records are retained and available upon request for critical infrastructure procurement.
