Technical Dossier
The LTI Motion LSC series represents a family of permanent-magnet synchronous servo motors engineered for precision motion control in heavy industrial environments. Deployed across chemical processing plants, offshore oil & gas platforms, paper mills, and steel rolling lines, the LSC series has established a significant installed base in applications where positioning accuracy, thermal stability, and continuous-duty torque density are non-negotiable. The series covers a torque range from approximately 2 Nm to over 200 Nm, with frame sizes from 040 to 190, making it a scalable solution for both compact machine axes and large-format gantry systems. Integration with LTI Motion's ECODRIVE and DIAX04 drive platforms — as well as third-party inverters via resolver or EnDat 2.1/2.2 feedback — has made the LSC series a standard reference in European machine tool and automation OEM specifications.
The LSC series was introduced by Lust Antriebstechnik (later rebranded as LTI Motion following acquisition) as a direct successor to earlier LSH and LST motor families. The original LSC-040 and LSC-055 frame variants were designed for compatibility with the ECODRIVE 03 (DKC) drive series, using 12-pin resolver feedback connectors and a single-cable power interface. As the platform matured, LTI Motion introduced EnDat 2.1 absolute encoder options, enabling single-turn and multi-turn absolute positioning without a battery backup unit — a critical reliability improvement for vertical axes in machine tools.
The mid-generation LSC-070 and LSC-100 frames introduced higher pole-count winding configurations, improving low-speed torque ripple characteristics for applications such as direct-drive rotary tables and extruder feed axes. Thermal class F insulation (155°C) became standard across the range, with optional class H available for high-ambient installations. The later LSC-130 and LSC-190 frames added optional holding brakes rated to IEC 60034-5 IP65, addressing wash-down and outdoor enclosure requirements in food processing and water treatment facilities.
As of 2024, the LSC series is in a mature/end-of-active-production phase. LTI Motion has transitioned new designs toward the MCS and MDS motor families. However, the LSC series remains in active service across a large global installed base, and DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory and repair pipeline for lifecycle extension support.
The following SKUs represent verified, commonly sourced models within the LTI Motion LSC series, organized by frame size and functional category:
Frame 040 — Compact Axis Motors
Frame 055 — Light-Duty Servo Axes
Frame 070 — Mid-Range Precision Axes
Frame 100 — Medium-Duty Industrial Axes
Frame 130 — High-Torque Servo Motors
With the LSC series in its mature lifecycle phase, procurement teams at OEMs and end-users increasingly encounter extended lead times, minimum order quantity restrictions, and outright discontinuation notices from authorized distribution channels. DriveKNMS operates a dedicated obsolescence management program for the LTI Motion LSC series. Our inventory includes both new-old-stock (NOS) units sourced from verified European and Asian distribution closeouts, as well as professionally refurbished units that have undergone full electrical and mechanical reconditioning.
For models such as the LSC-070-2-50-560-P5B0R1PM0 and other resolver-feedback variants, DriveKNMS maintains cross-reference data against compatible replacement options within the LTI Motion MCS series and third-party equivalents, enabling engineering teams to evaluate drop-in or form-fit-function substitutions without full machine redesign. All sourcing is documented with traceability records available upon request for regulated industries including nuclear, pharmaceutical, and aerospace MRO.
Each LSC series unit processed by DriveKNMS undergoes a structured inspection and test protocol specific to permanent-magnet servo motor architecture:
Test records are issued with each unit and retained in our quality management system for a minimum of five years.
