The PR6423 series traces its lineage to EPRO's early eddy current product lines developed in the 1980s for turbomachinery OEM integration. The original architecture paired a passive sensor probe with a dedicated driver/oscillator unit (the CON0xx series), establishing a two-component topology that remains the standard today. Early variants used fixed cable lengths and non-interchangeable probe-driver pairs, requiring matched calibration. Subsequent generations introduced extended temperature ratings (up to 180°C at the probe tip), improved EMI shielding on the integral cable, and standardized 5 m / 9 m / 11 m cable configurations to align with API 670 installation geometry requirements.
