Technical Dossier
The IS220P series was introduced as part of the Mark VIe platform launch in the early 2000s, succeeding the Mark VI (IS200 series) and Mark V (DS200 series) control architectures. The transition from Mark VI to Mark VIe introduced a shift from VME-bus backplane topology to the proprietary IONet Ethernet-based I/O network, enabling distributed I/O placement across turbine enclosures without dedicated I/O racks adjacent to the controller. IS220P modules communicate via the IONET protocol over 100BASE-TX Ethernet, with redundant network paths supported through dual-port configurations on select modules. Hardware revision levels (suffix characters such as A, B, C appended to base part numbers) reflect incremental changes to FPGA firmware, component sourcing, and EMC compliance updates — earlier revisions remain backward-compatible with Mark VIe R04.x through R07.x software releases, while later revisions may require minimum software version R05.2 or above. As the Mark VIe platform has entered its mature/sustaining lifecycle phase, GE has transitioned new turbine projects to the Mark VIe-IS (Integrated System) and Mark VIe-E architectures; however, the IS220P series remains the dominant installed-base module family requiring long-term spare parts support through 2035 and beyond.
The following SKUs represent verified, commonly stocked modules within the GE Mark VIe IS220P series, classified by functional category:
Analog & Process I/O Modules
Digital I/O Modules
Communication & Network Modules
Power Supply & Backplane Modules
