The GE VM Series was introduced as part of GE's broader Series 90 and Genius I/O ecosystem, providing modular power supply and signal conditioning functions that interfaced with GE Fanuc PACSystems and earlier Series Six/Series Five controllers. Early VM modules used parallel backplane communication with fixed-address I/O mapping.
