The FC-IOCHAS series was introduced as part of Honeywell's Safety Manager platform, which succeeded earlier safety relay and hardwired interlock systems in the mid-2000s. The chassis design follows a modular slot-based architecture, where each chassis unit provides a defined number of I/O module slots connected via a proprietary safety backplane bus.
