The Evolution of SERVOSTAR 600 Architecture

The SERVOSTAR 600 platform succeeded the earlier SERVOSTAR 300 and SERVOSTAR CD analog-era amplifiers, introducing full digital closed-loop control via the proprietary SERCOS II and CANopen fieldbus interfaces. Early production units (pre-2005) used a discrete IGBT gate driver architecture with external EMC filters; post-2008 revisions integrated EMC filtering on-board and introduced the SynqNet motion bus option. The series supports resolver, SinCos encoder, EnDat 2.1/2.2, and Hiperface feedback devices, making it compatible with the full Kollmorgen AKM and RBE motor families as well as third-party servomotors. Firmware versions S600-V6.x introduced auto-tuning and advanced notch filter algorithms. The SERVOSTAR 600 series reached end-of-active-production status; Kollmorgen's current replacement platform is the AKD2G series, though direct drop-in replacement requires mechanical and electrical adaptation. Long-term spare parts and repair support for SERVOSTAR 600 units remains commercially active through specialist distributors.
