Technical Dossier
The PHOENIX CONTACT QUINT-PS series is a family of primary-switched DIN-rail power supply units engineered for continuous-duty operation in heavy industrial environments. Deployed across chemical processing plants, nuclear power facilities, oil refineries, offshore platforms, and large-scale manufacturing automation systems, the QUINT-PS line has established a dominant installed base in safety-critical 24 VDC bus architectures worldwide. Its defining characteristic is the integrated SFB (Selective Fuse Breaking) technology, which delivers up to 200% of rated current for 12 ms to selectively blow downstream fuses without tripping the supply itself — a requirement in multi-branch 24 VDC distribution panels where nuisance shutdowns carry significant process cost. The series covers output power classes from 24 W to 960 W, with single-phase and three-phase AC input variants, making it applicable from small PLC cabinets to large distributed control system (DCS) marshalling racks.
The QUINT-PS series was introduced by PHOENIX CONTACT in the early 2000s as a successor to the MINI-PS and TRIO-PS lines, targeting applications that required active power boost and diagnostic output signaling. The first-generation QUINT-PS units featured passive cooling and analog signaling via a relay contact for DC-OK status. Subsequent revisions introduced the SFB technology, raising the short-circuit current delivery window and enabling selective coordination with 24 VDC branch fuses rated as low as 0.5 A.
The second-generation QUINT-PS/1AC/24DC variants added a wider AC input range (85–264 VAC), improving compatibility with unstable grid conditions common in emerging-market industrial sites. Three-phase variants (QUINT-PS/3AC/24DC) were introduced to serve high-power rack applications where single-phase loading was impractical. The QUINT4-PS generation, released in the 2010s, added an integrated IQ Technology platform with IO-Link communication, enabling remote monitoring of output voltage, current, and remaining service life via a PLC or DCS asset management layer. This generation also introduced the QUINT-PS/24DC/24DC DC/DC converter sub-family for battery-backed 24 VDC bus applications.
The following SKUs represent the core QUINT-PS product range. Each entry is classified by function and rated output. All models are DIN-rail mountable per EN 60715 and carry CE, UL 508, and cULus listings unless otherwise noted.

DriveKNMS operates a dedicated lifecycle support program for the QUINT-PS series, with particular focus on first-generation units that have reached end-of-life status with PHOENIX CONTACT. Sites running legacy DCS or SCADA architectures — including Honeywell TDC 3000, ABB Advant, and Siemens TELEPERM installations — frequently require exact-replacement QUINT-PS units to avoid panel redesign and re-certification costs that can exceed the value of the control system itself.
